Every year, it is a privilege for Pixologic to recognize the very best artwork that has been shared at ZBrushCentral.com. The ZBrush Awards are given to artists that have been nominated by their peers during the course of a year, with the awards then being handed out at a special presentation at our annual ZBrush Summit.
Every post from the year (between June 15 of the year preceding the Summit through June 14 of the current Summit year) will be eligible for an award!
This is your chance to recognize those artists and projects that have most inspired you throughout the year. It's also the perfect excuse to explore: Take some time to scan back through ZBC's archives from the past year to discover threads and artwork that you might have missed. You may well find something that inspires you to create your own winning artwork!
WHEN DOES VOTING TAKE PLACE?
Voting is ongoing -- all year, every year. Simply watch for the VOTE button at the lower corner of any image to see if it's eligible for the current year's voting.
ELIGIBILITY*
- To qualify, works must have been posted at ZBrushCentral during the current voting year. This begins on June 15th of last year and continues through June 14th of the current year. We use this schedule to give all eligible images a fair opportunity to rack up votes before the year's votes are tallied immediately prior to the ZBrush Summit that autumn.
- ZBrush must have been an essential part of the creation process to qualify.
- For collaborations (including studios), an award will be given to the group/organization as a whole and another award will be given to the individual artist whose work within the collaborative effort receives the most votes.
THE CATEGORIES AREIMAGE OF THE YEAR
An individual 2D or 3D image that is outstanding overall. Images must be a finished, complete illustration. No WIP images; only completed images will qualify. Unlike "Sculpt of the Year," this category is looking at the scene's models and surroundings, both.
SCULPT OF THE YEAR
An individual image showing a completed sculpt that is outstanding overall. The majority of the sculpt must have been completed in ZBrush. The model does not have to be colored/textured. It can be organic or hard surface. Unlike "Image of the Year," this category is looking at the quality of the sculpting, alone.
ZBRUSH TO 3D PRINT OF THE YEAR
An award for work completed with ZBrush and then output to 3D Print. Jewelry, toys, collectibles, statues, large sculptures or any other pieces where the ZBrush sculpts were 3D printed are eligible.
TOP ROW POST OF THE YEAR
Tell the world which Top Row images were your favorite! Both Individual and Studio Threads featured in the Top Row are eligible.
STUDIO THREAD OF THE YEAR
Vote for your favorite work from studios (for example, in the film, game, jewelry, toy or collectibles industries). The thread must contain images from work completed within a studio pipeline. The thread must be titled with the studio name and/or project title.
"Studio" is defined as any company working on a designated project.
GAME ART OF THE YEAR
Unlike "Studio Thread of the Year," this includes individual artists' threads showing work on a game project. It can also include any collaborative thread for a game title where several artists have posted work in one thread. Game fan art or personal sculpts of any game character do not qualify - the artwork posted must have been used within the game pipeline.
FILM ART OF THE YEAR
Unlike "Studio Thread of the Year," this category includes individual artists' threads showing work on a film project. It can also include any collaborative thread for a movie title where several artists have posted work in one thread. Film fan art or personal sculpts of any movie character do not qualify - the artwork must have been used within the film pipeline.
Additionally, we have a special award each year:
ZBrushCentral HONORARY AWARD
This award is given by Pixologic in recognition of an individual who has had tremendous impact on the world of digital art. The recipient of this award may or may not be a member of ZBrushCentral. There are no nominations accepted for this award.
HOW DOES THE VOTING TAKE PLACE?
You must be logged into ZBrushCentral to vote. If you're not a member, you can register for free.
For any eligible image on ZBrushCentral, you will see a VOTE icon overlaid at the bottom left corner. To nominate that image for the year’s ZBrush Awards, simply click the VOTE button. A pop-up window will appear with the opportunity to finalize your vote or to cancel.
That's all there is to it! You don't need to worry about choosing a specific category. When all of the votes are tallied shortly before the year's ZBrush Summit, we automatically organize them according to the categories that each image or thread is eligible for.
You may only vote for any individual image once, but you can vote for as many images as you wish throughout the year. This means that you don't need to worry about whether you think a particular image is better or worse in your opinion than one that you previously nominated. If you like it, vote for it!
You may withdraw a nomination for any image at any time before the voting for that year's awards has been locked in. To do this, click the image's VOTE button again. Instead of the option to add your vote, you will see an option to remove your vote.
Only eligible images will display the VOTE button.
Don't forget to click the "Add Your Vote" button to cast your ballot!
*Pixologic reserves the right to disqualify any nominated post which at its sole discretion Pixologic believes to misrepresent the way that ZBrush was used in the image's creation.
All nominees must complete work using a registered copy of ZBrush, whether that copy is owned by the individual or a studio. Nominees will be required to submit verification of eligibility.
Pixologic reserves the right to modify the ZBrush Awards program at any time and without notice.
