Creature Bin - Jerod Bogh
Hey ZBrush savages,
Just carving out a little place to drop some creatures, aliens, and other beasts from time to time.
I will most likely just stick to personal work/studies in this thread.
Currently beta testing the ZBrush to KeyShot GoZ Plugin and I'm loving what it's done to my workflows.
I'm finding that getting an early glimpse of a characters look-dev, is effecting the design decisions I'm making back in ZBrush while the sculpt is still evolving.
This first Alien is a perfect example. What started as a morning warm-up soon stole my attention for a few days. And the visual feedback I got from some early skin and lighting tests in KeyShot heavily influenced how I finished him out.
These renders are done using the Max Samples Setting.
~20 mins per image with 64 samples.
Also something new for me... No UVs were harmed in the making of this creature.
Just Polypaint sent straight over on high res meshes via GoZ for KeyShot. Which is a breath of fresh air to me and keeps the flow going!
Cheers!

i used the trial of keyshot for 30 days and i must say,
it's a very easy to use renderer, with great results.
can you tell what version you use?
will the goz plugin work with the standard version?
grtz p
Patpotlood, thanks for the kind words!
I am on 4.1 Pro.
But I believe the plugin should work for all versions of KeyShot.

Great work and is specially usefull for high quality renders without Uvs. Looking forward for the plugin release
Thanks! Coming from a production heavy mindset, it's seriously so nice to just kick a model out High Res and Polypainted, ready to rock.
Tip for the Plugin: Name all your subtools clearly! Makes things cleaner in KeyShot.
Here is a link to a test I did today using KeyShot Pro VR: http://keyshot.com/vr/JerodBogh/Mant...e_Studio4.html
Click to spin the Model Right or Left and use your scroll wheel to zoom up to 200%
For those that don't know, VR lets you render a number of frames out and stitches them together for in-Browser interaction!
Tons of options during the setup. Even an option to output to iBooks.
For this initial test I set up a basic Turntable but there are options for Spherical, Hemispherical, Tumble, Custom, and Animation as well.
This makes it feel like an in-Browser 3D viewer but with the high finish of a constant KeyShot render. Woohoo!!

Just a bit of the process
Thanks guys!
The KeyShot Plugin is still in Beta testing so it hasn't been released quite yet. But soon hopefully.
You actually can create emissive materials in KeyShot. Either using the drop down menu marked "Type" in the Material properties. As well as in the Material Library.
Then just tweak the colors and intensity :)
Hope that helps!
After making the Pumpkin Eater I was contacted by 3DWorld for a quick interview through their Creative Bloq site.
Just a brief rundown of my process for the image if anyone is interested.

Here are a few images showing some of my ZBrush workflow during the project.

Silverback Fibermesh testing in KeyShot
Some early tests on a Silverback model I've got cookin'.
Here are a few progress shots, initially trying to see how KeyShot handles large amounts of Fibermesh from ZBrush.
These are 20-30min screenshots from the realtime viewport.
The Fibermesh is weighing in at over 8.5M polys alone.
I wasn't really trying to use it sparingly at all.
Learning as I go with Fibermesh and the overall styling needs more work and some color variation. Skin will get a bunch more love too.
The teeth are attached to a full skull inside the head. Which started as a Dynamesh sphere then eventually Zremeshed so I could have some subdivisions again.
I added gums around the teeth as a seperate subtool (Dynamesh spheres).
Eventually I will try for a cutaway or transparency of somekind to show off the underlying anatomy.
Getting busy but I will post more on this guy when I can steal more hours!
Thanks for dropping by!

KeyShot 5 Beta Testing/3D Artist Review
Time to bump this thread!
I was fortunate enough to get in on the Beta Testing for Keyshot 5.
Afterwards I got the chance to Review KeyShot 5 for 3D Artist Magazine in Issue #69!
Really excited about that one as it was my first time making it into print!

Here are a few images I created to showcase some of the new features.
Sculpted in ZBrush of course!
