I've had a few questions about how I do hair. Mr. Fraser nailed it above. I sculpt a volume for the silhouette, then create many strips with custom IMM brushes. The key is to take your time and adjust each strip as you go. It can be a little fussy... but hair is always fussy no matter how you do it. Frankly, I don't think its the best way to make hair for most situations, but after a lot of trial and error, it gives the cleanest results when 3d printing.
Thanks to everyone for their interest. :)
Here's a few more
Artemesia from the film 300: Rise of an Empire
(For the portrait I used scanned reference. All other parts are from scratch.)
Daryl from AMC's The Walking Dead
(Portrait and all other parts are from scratch)
Glenn from AMC's The Walking Dead
(For the portrait I used scanned reference. All other parts are from scratch.)
great stuff all round! Interesting workflow on the hair too, thanks for sharing.
Great idea with painted eyes - makes sculpt realy full of love.
And your skills are just amazing. Every pice is breathtaking and some are really clever (like that chick eith butt crack sticking out from pants).
You must get tired of hearing the compliments but these are just incredible (especially Daryl), I have only been using zbrush for a few days and your work is so inspiring.
P.S I love walking dead : )
Excellent works! Thanks for sharing these masterpieces!

Wonderful sculpting, and absolutely gorgeous texturing! How on earth did you get the models' hands to grip their weapons so naturally? Rigging?
Wow this piece is just amazing thank you so much for sharing!
How ironic that I watch 300: Rise of an Empire last night and fell in love with the Artemesia's costume. :p
