Any chance of getting this to work in ZB 4r5...? Having some issues with trying to get it to work with XSI 7
Hi!
If you have update from ZBrush 4R4 to ZBrush 4R5 using the updater, all your R4 settings are copied to your R5 version. This means that "GoZ Softimage Complete Binary.GoZ" file is already copied to the new version in the "..\ZBrush 4R5\ZStartup\ExportTamplates" folder.
What we need to do is to update manually the Pixologic Public folder.
I noticed that the updater renames the R4 public folder to "Pixologic4R4" and creates a new public folder called "Pixologic". This new folder does not have the "Softimage" folder we need in the "GoZApps" folder.
So we must open the old GoZApps folder ("C:\Users\Public\Pixologic4R4\GoZApps") and copy the folder : "Softimage" to the new GoZApps folder ("C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps").
Then we start ZBrush 4R5 , we go to Preferences > GoZ and check "path to Softimage" moving our cursor over the "path to Softimage" Button.
If the path is the correct one, we just hit Alt + Ctrl + G and set Softimage as our current GoZ enabled application.
If the path is not the correct one we click the "path to Softimage" Button and set it to our Softimage Bin folder. We don't need to install GoZ Plugin again to Softimage so we skip the installation step when prompted.
Now GoZ should work with ZBrush 4R5.
I believe these instructions cover full installer too. Check your folders as described above to see.
For first time ZBrush installation please refer to GoZ installation instructions at the first post .
I hope it helps...
Have Fun :),
This works, but I also get an error when I import my files into Softimage... that it cannot read my GoZ file... is there a way around this...?
Okay, I am bumping this topic because whenever I hit GoZ in Zbrush to go to Softimage, I amm getting a Fatal Error that cannot read the GoZ file :(... and i have force installed Goz for Softimage several times without success...
Hi :),
It seems that GoZ Plugin in Softimage can't find the "yourSubtoolName.GoZ" file.
Assuming that your installation is correct, please try to :
1. Clear cache files from ZBrush (Preferences > GoZ > Clear cache files).
2. Go to your Pixologic Public GoZBrush folder (Public\Pixologic\GoZBrush) and delete the file: "GoZ_ObjectList.txt".
Select PolyMesh3d tool from ZBrush tool pallete and send it to Softimage to test it.
If this does not work, take a look in your SI script editor for any messages and make sure that you have proper access rights to your Pixologic Public folder and subfolders.
Is there your PolyMesh3d GoZ file in your GoZProjects folder (Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default)?
If this works but your mesh still don't, you can send me your ZTool to give it a try.
In any case please inform me about the results.
Thanks,
Still the same results... I am going to try to see if changing the permissions on the folder will help me
Hi again :),
Go to Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default folder and see if you as user and all groups of users that you belong to (like Everyone) have permission to read from it.
Please tell me your progress.
Can you share more details about the steps you make?
It would be easier for me to help you.
Thanks,
I just choose a subtool and click GoZ to send the object... I will occasionally get a fatal error...and I set up the folder so EVERYONE can use it
EDIT: I was able to run it after I removed the cache files, but I am still getting a fatal error :(
Hey Kostasph,
Nice to see you back :)
Is there any plan to update the plugin? There are few issues that would be nice if improved :)
And Happy New Year!
Hi,
I just installed the Softimage GoZ plugin. I had to in install the addon manually. My paths are set up correctly to point to the XSI.exe. When I try to send a default sphere from Zbrush to Soft, nothing happens however if I go into soft and import from Zbrush the sphere comes in. I can also send an object to Zbrush from Soft, but again can't send it back by hitting the GoZ button. I'm using 4R5. Any ideas?
thanks,
Jeff
Hi Jeff ! :)
Just in case...
Please check if there is "GoZBrushToSoftimage.exe" file in the Softimage GoZApps folder
(usually: "C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Softimage") .
If you have update to ZB 4R5 check this Post also.
I hope that helps.
Yep, it's there. I'll check the post.
thanks,
Jeff
Hello guys!
First of all another thank you for this tool.
Now second... is there a way to have GoZ setup an arnold shader network in stead of mray one after sending from ZBrush to SI?
Any way to modify that so after sending there is correctly Arnold shader network with standard and sta_displacement nodes and images connected to?
Another on goes to location where everything is exported.
Is there option to choose for example SI project folder so that texture, displacement and other files created are saved in picture folder for that project or at least to change output folder for export?
Thank you
i have trouble i try what's say here but no result
so i got
Specified Export Tamplate can not be Found
File export canceled.
on xsi i got
fatal error
goz file can be read
any idea plz is welcomme thank's
