That’s why I’m so eager to see him finished: I wanna’ get him posed and reacting to someone/something. I’m working on some sketches that bring in some more backstory – your nice comments encourage me to post these too when they’re finished!

Love the sculpt of axl! The simplified strong forms show your anatomy knowledge. The lessons are great also. Awesome to have someone take the time to spell out stuff I've been guessing at. Looking forward to more! :D

The helmet is wonderful and i'm sure that the polypaint and damage texturing will bring a lot to your "already" beautiful project!!!

Hi there, been following your thread for quite a while, but never posted a comment (since I never show stuff I hold back on criticism and/or comment). Great progress, great sculpts. I especially loved the 'ZBrush and real life' part, keep those coming! It may seem pointless to you, but it's a good influence on aspiring artists - such as me - not only to see the fruits of work but also the real life that comes with being an artist... For example, in many interviews artists will be like 'oh, i love my job here at *insert company name* I can go snowboarding before I go to work and stuff'. It's just nice to know what the other side of the medal feels like if you dig further into zbrush and art in general.
What the other guy meant with Rorschach I cannot say. Basically Rorschach Tests are a psychological thing where you're shown different plates which just have some colored ink put on em, then they were folded in the center and let dry, so they have a symmetrical random pattern. Based on the test subject's answers on what he sees in these patterns, the psychologist can then try to guess what your way of seeing things says about your personality :) It's a bit controversial, I guess... Also, there's a character called Rorschach in the Watchmen-comics and it's recent movie adaption, who's wearing a mask that constantly changes it's black-white-pattern. Maybe he was referring to that in regard to your boy with the goggles on and his skin being all grey :)

How are you scanning in the pencil drawings? Is the sketchbook 8x11 or 11x14? I'm having trouble scanning 11x14 sketchbook drawings. Too big for most scanners, and its also seems to be not bright enough. I can always adjust brightness, but its best if you get it right at the source I think.

Womball:My scanner is A4 size – sketchbook pages and drawings are rarely larger. If they are, I scan them in part by part and puzzle the pieces back together in PS. I’m trying to get these pages on ZBC fast, so I scanned them in quite sloppy: size to 100% resolution to 150dpi. Applied no pressure on the scanner lid: this ensures that more of the paper grain comes through. Adjusted levels in PS a bit to enhance the paper look.

Finally got round to posting on your thread again. What you have done with these anatomical studies is simply brilliant. They are clear, intuitive and really great to referance.
I am very glad to be back on ZBC after my deep reserch period and amazed to see your fantastic progress. Whats you background btw. You look like you might have done animation at some point? Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.
BTW just give Axl an eye patch and your son will love your work even more :D
