@Tartan and Maffu Thanks guys. One thing I will always be is my own worst critic I guess...lol. Since I spend so little time with these sculpts (more out of necessity in not having a lot of free time which kind of makes me try to get as much in as time will allow), it's hard to really ever know how anyone else will see all these "sketches" (not really sure if that's the right term for them or not). Like many others here, I'm just doing this as a fun hobby to get some ideas out of my head or just to play around. That would be an interesting test one of these days though. Create a really detailed model in Sculptris and try to pass it off as a ZBrush sculpt. See how many were fooled and for how long.
And unfortunately, not on vacation. We were watching those Grimm episodes mostly (at least most of the time while the baby sleeps...lol). Thought I'd create a few heads this weekend with that on the mind now that I was back on the computer (though I still have to watch the 3rd season). While some of the creatures were interesting, their most successful creatures (to me anyway) were the ones that moved further away from human. The ones that looked least like just a person with a mask on anyway. Since they are using ZBrush, you would think that they would push the anatomy a bit further and have just a bit of human in the animal rather than just a bit of animal in the human. Guess I really can't judge since they are likely on a really tight time and money schedule. Then there's the latest one which was a mosquito. I saw an image somewhere online (found it again the other day and can't seem to find out who the original artist was) that I wanted to try and make a similar creature. Changed it a bit to be my own. Didn't finish the wings, but it was still fun.
And now I've got time to start commenting on a lot of the threads that have started since I've been gone...lol.

Hey Spork I like them all but you can tell which ones you put the most work into. The lemurish, monkey man and the mosquito. Pure brilliance with great potential for the goat man and the Bulldog? man. Damn glad to see you back and in great form. I have Amazon Prime and just started watching Grim. Well done tv show and worth a Marathon:D I just hope Amazon doesn't turn the switch off like they did with some tv movies starring Tom Selleck. (The Jesse Stone series) I went to watch the last one and it was gone from Prime and had to be paid for :td:

Thanks Tartan. That Grimm show wasn't too bad. Just finished the third season from the on demand for cable. Bit too easy to predict what was going to happen in each episode, but still some mindless fun to sit and enjoy. Also finished watching the British version of Sherlock Holmes. Each show was the length of a movie. Only 3 episodes per season, but still an interesting one to watch.
Started on my version of Dreamz evil baby gnome. As I was sculpting, I figured that in my world the age of a gnome is determined by weight. So a really young gnome can be easily recognized. Though I was also considering that in order for that to happen a gnome would have to be born fully grown and hatched from an egg that when first layed was fairly small. Through an attached umbilical cord to the egg (which doesn't give the female gnomes a whole lot of freedom of movement once the egg gets too big to haul around) the egg/gnome continues to grow until it's ready to hatch. While I could go into a whole host of sociological aspects of their society that this unique adaptation brings to their world, I think I'll just leave it at that...lol. But, now I've also got to think about what he's going to be doing so I can pose him and finish up some of the areas that have to wait until I break symmetry. Either way, here's where he is so far. No hat yet either. Still have to do a lot of stuff with the clothes too. Still working on the hands and boots.
Adding this one into this thread as well.

Dreamz can be inspiring when he wants.. hehe. He is good!
I like your background on the gnome, Definitely pose him! But beware! Next thing you know we will have soft hearted, malicious looking, little innocent gnomes running around :D

@Tartan Just something about that one that made me want to do my own version. I don't think I can get that kind of look out of my little gnome, but I may try for something a bit different in this one. Guess it depends on the pose that he ends up in. Still haven't even come up with something yet on that front. Added in a lot of little things to this one from the last update. Still not done adding before I can start the posing and fabric folds though.

I like the details. And great teeth, but I'm English - tombstones look like great teeth to me. Lol.
He looks gigantic, like 100 feet tall. There's a strange idea: giant gnomes, and midget giants. My brain now hurts.
-
Thanks Dreamz. Strangely enough, the teeth have been changed before I saw your response (damn, now that I think about it, they could use a lot more change from even where I currently have them). More because of a strange article I read while trying to come up with a pose. Was about a weird encounter with a gnome that was flipping off someone and then eating their fish from the coy pond or something. Either way, didn't exactly make for a cozy encounter with a gnome. But, I have to say, your response gave me so many ideas that this sculpt can go in that I hadn't even begun to think of before (actually, they are much better than the basic ones that I was initially thinking about before...lol). Now I'll be going back to the original file before posing and changing that one when I get some more time.

Lovely lovely lovely sculpts dear Spork!
I specially like the guy with beard and the spider, really lovely characters.
keep going buddy, you are great!
-
@Spork. I look forward to seeing what you do. By the way, the buttons and laces - hat's off to you. I just haven't got the patients for that level of detail.
-
Spork you are a leading light here. Maybe The leading light. Great work as usual!

Thanks guys. Looks like this light went out for a while though...lol.
@Dreamz I was thinking a bit of the same before I tried to do it too. Wasn't all that bad to put in though. I'd like to start adding in more detail than that to some sculpts, but that means that I'd have to spend more than one sitting with something...lol. I may try to do that with the one that I'm working on now.
Started with some new sculpts here and there when I get some time. A few heads, a few bodies and then the latest one that I did the full body. Might be interesting to try out some detailed clothing/armor for him.
Out of asym. Thought I'd post it since I just passed the quarter of a mill point. Thinking of a bone armor, but still unsure of whether or not to go with a shaman kind of character or soldier. So many ideas for both. Either way, sorry if the final result has no coherence...lol. Throwing it together as I go.
Bit more time with this one. Thought I'd go with a more primitive kind of bone armor for him. Still need to add in all the little vines that hold it together. Not sure what, but there will be something for the other arm as well. Probably a forearm piece.
Just had the time to add in the connecting vines.
-
Hey Spork, Not sure how I missed your last post. I like the direction you are headed with this last with the bone armor and of course as always your other sculpts are Great! :D I also think you should finish the female model because it has great potential!

@Tartan I had a couple of ideas for a female model, but if I were to begin one they would have to be started from scratch.
I know this goblin thing isn't completed (or even painted, but I would still like to do that just to see how it would look), but I'm going to call it done for now. Haven't had a lot of time with Sculptris lately and so many ideas still...lol. I did add in a small forearm bit for the other arm though. I think I want to try something in the opposite direction for the next full model. Something a bit more sci-fi than fantasy.
-
I think it came out well Spork. I hope you save all of these multiple times on different hard drives lol. One day you may want to go back and rig them. Hmmm which reminds me.

@Tartan Thanks. Now that I have it colored in, I can think of a crapload more things that I should have done. But, he's done for now.
Didn't do much with the paint, but I had to give him something. Also started on the base to the next one that I wanted to start. Going to try for a combination of cloth and hard surface stuff for a tactical armor look possibly. At least that's what I see in my mind at the moment. Who knows, could change when I actually get to adding the details in...lol.
Bit more to the alien guy. Still a lot more to add.
