Try to use the reduce brush+smooth brush combo. That should fix the problem.

Incredible work.
The only thing I don't like is the sand. It looks too plain, but I suppose adding more geometry there to make it more realistic increases rendering time a lot.

yep, you're right,gabe, folds and wrinkles and cracks...
have you tried to detail it with the gravity option? it's used to get that effect.
give it a try, I'm sure it won't disappoint you

why don't you try to use some rocks for elbows and knees? it could help to add more detail and define different parts of the mesh.
I think lava flow doesn't resemble...
