below is just a facebook post that i made discussing this topic... i think i hit upon the reason why there is not traditional polygon selection to perform operations as in other traditional modeling...
howdy,
So i'm just getting my feet wet by playing around with macros and i'm just wondering if zscript is based on lisp? Not all that important to me but I was just curious if zs is a brackets...
absolutely no rush for me. but thank you for the heads up. very good of you!
thank you for all you guys do and happy holidays!
jin
oh holy crap,
thank you so much marcus! that's perfect!
jin
so i've been trying to make one button macros that automate tasks that require a lot of button pushes. i successfully created a macro to automate the appending of a zsphere subtool to retopologize....
well zbrush has always been rather famous for not allowing direct selection of polygons to apply operations to. the substitute technique was to either hide or mask parts of models you don't want...
ohhhhhh.... the white selection thing is TEMPORARY POLY GROUP?
nice... that should do nicely. not quite poly selection but looks like it will be close enough!
can't wait!
jin
looks like it IS $350 with a $250 deal initially: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOYAmIweAzQ#t=416
i am ecstatic for the new low poly modeling possibilities with the new stuff! finally, i can just do ALL my modeling without zbrush and i've wanted that for suuuuuuuuuch a long time!
awesome...
thanks everybody.
i got sorted out. back on 4r5 at work... woohoo....
hmmm... but it seems to me that pixologic should keep a downloads section on their support site where you can download...
am definitely not looking for a crack. i have a license and just want to install on my work computer.
situation:
- i have zb installed at home (win 8) and at work (xp64 - yeah, i know but out...
it's not intrinsically impossible... you just have to design the cut lines and attach points so that there won't be undesired overlap.
also, how do they want it to open? if it's a simple hinge...
ah! that's the part i was missing... i just thought it was a CTRL-drag of the tpose line. thanks again.
jin
oh, crap, found NEW ones! (geez, is there anywhere where there is an EXHAUSTIVE catalog of these things so that every function is listed? hate not knowing and having potentially useful things hidden...
awesome thanks!
forgot about duplicate and never knew that you could do an "inset" operation with scale! sweet.
oh, btw, since you're here, do you know the difference between topological...
ooo, i guess one thing i would request for this list is a run down of all the different transpose action line functions. i think i've got them (though i'm actually not sure if i'm missing any at...
sweeeeeeeeeeet...
thank you!
jin
on pg. 17 of the new 4r4 getting started pdf, they say there is a full list of shortcuts by palette here:
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/ZBrush4_Shortcuts_by_Palette
i would LOOOOOVE...
i do box modeling and polybypoly modeling in lightwave 9.65 (also out of date but the last version of lw i will ever buy) and yeah, especially since zb can gracefully handle massive mounts of polys,...
awesome vids! thanks much.
i really think this kind of workflow is the right "level" to work at in zb... not manipulating edge loops or doing traditional poly modeling tasks (cuz really, as of...
those hard surface models looked amazing and were a great part of the zb4r4 promos... will we see anything about the process of modeling those? if not a tutorial, just an overview article?
was...
video 3 in particular was awesome.
personally, i'm finding doing edge manipulation/loops/traditional modeling techniques in zb to take a lot longer and be a lot more tedious to do than in...
ohhhhh...
so it's probably short for "damien standard"....
that makes sense... this would be the kind of thing that would be perfect for the new brush credits thing.
thanks
jin
what does that mean? blew my mind when i needed to just carve lines into my model and i was referred to "dam standard"....
why is it called that?
thanks.
HOOOLY MOOOOLY!!!!
so many of these tools are things that i needed right this minute for the work i'm doing!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!
(it's impossible to be excited on the internet and...
