Thanks mate, yeah I really like the shader the guys in the Z3 gallery are using, so I've been trying to get the same look in my renders with Metal Ray... seems to be working.
This is actually an old model, just wanted to see it rendered with Mental Ray

I dont do much lighting and rendering, but, a nice shader and lighting does really help a model look its best, so thought it was worth learning...
Thanks calum5ZB, there's nothing special about the eye setup, I played around with different lens shapes to create a more interesting surface for the spec lights to dance across, they were also...

I'm rendering with Mental ray, but not all in the one shader, I find it easier to control if I break it up into passes and comp in Shake
3 main render passes....

Hey there... yep, you cant always trust photos and occasionally just have to ask yourself if it looks right. You're right in saying that this photo implies they're a fair way back, but I'm not sure...
