You've got the ZModeler setup down already. :-)

Congrats. I'm reading the docs now, thanks for the heads up in the other thread (about the docs).

    GRIN!!!

That is a terrific thing Michalis!!! Its astonishing huh?

Paleo, I can't figure out which ones you mean but thanks!

Jan, its EASY! I just started trying out all the options, its utterly mind blowing what you can do with this stuff.

And now since I have had 4R7 for almost a whole day I figure its time to whip up a tutorial!

So, heres this amazing thing to NOT DO:

    1. Run the 64 bit version, subdivide something (almost anything will do) till ZBrush tells you to stick it up your...
    2. ..ahem... Till Zbrush tells you politely to "Stop Doing That!".
    3. Then turn on symmetry, and begin going nuts, everything should work just fine even with a thirty or forty or sixty+ million polygon object (with no subtools).
    4. Now.... Select the Move Topology brush! Dont worry! What could possibly go wrong!!!???
    5. Hire some goons to come shoot me in the knees.
    6. Try moving stuff!
    7. Listen to the sound of me subdividing your goons (I knew they were coming) and deleting lower till they can't move. Crunch SNIP crunch SNIP crunch SNIP....
    8. Wiggle your mouse.
    9. Wait while nothing happens.
    10. Watch as your mouse refuses to budge!
    11. Wonder about the life insurance policy you took out on your goons and weather it will come back and bite you on the... Ahem. Heh.
    12. Fend off insurance company, federal prosecutors and slew of witnesses that ALEGE you were NOT simply following a tutorial.
    13. Reap phenomenal benefits!

    And there you have it!
    nope...
I don't know what I'm doing but I'm doing it anyway.

I can't say holy **** here but I'm going to anyway:

    HOLY ****!

You can hold down ALT while using the ZModeler brush and PAINT polygroups!
    nope...
I don't know what I'm doing but I'm doing it anyway.

    Michalis!
Tell me something, are you finding your self using Blender command keys while using the ZModeler brush?
I keep hitting E, R, S and G without thinking about what Im doing and then wondering what went wrong!
    Its hilarious!
    nope...

Now you are having fun, Mealea, admit it
You are facing the best box modeler around, the Zmodeler. Precision it's not the goal, (who cares anyway)
And, for those who hated the zbrush UI (with their own right), well, what's up doc?

Yes. Fun. That is the word. It's been years since I had as much fun with anything software as now.
ZModeler also helped me realize that I never liked polygon modeling - I use(d) Modo - because it felt like drawing with a ruler.
Now that is gone. Done with.

This said: you have a lot of pages here in your thread. I had a quick glance and I liked the excitement that the pages radiate.
    There's a lot to discover.

    @Eric:
Theres a lot of pages because I never shut up!
Its been awesome, and with this new stuff promises to be even more so.
I would be careful with some of the tutorials, they are now, in many cases, rather obsolete, I will work on updating them at some point, but I don't think that the ZBC admins will let me change the old ones.

    @PFC:
    Yah, I know!!!
Its insane how different things are and yet how much easier!

    This is 1,356 polygons:

Brilliant exploration as always Mealea! This thread always inspires me to come back to Sculptris and Z when I should be writing.. dammit! ahem Of these last two pages the one that intrigues me the most is what I am calling Tentacles hehe or maybe better "The Sea Goddess Atlanthia" hmmm Need to think on that name. The goddess Ceph (lapod)? I really like the way you used the octopi and trilobites as hair That pose is a hard one to pull off and you did a great job with it. The hands need more love but it doesnt detract at all. Well done
They say time is the fire in which we burn. Quick! Someone get a fire extinguisher!
