Default Polycount Brawl - Waku Waku 7 - Fernandez redesign

    Last update:

    Fernandez_3d_15.jpg

    ================================================== ===

Well, there's a contest happening on Polycount forums. The theme is redesign a character of a Fighting game. I'm doing a redesign of the final boss of Neo Geo's Waku Waku 7 game, Fernandez. I like him because he is crazy, irreverent and very powerful. One of the most dificult end bosses ever, in my opinion. He's as tall as a skycraper, and uses electricity as his power.

I want to make him funnier, crazier and more demoniac than the original. Here's what I have until now.

    First sketch:

Second. Exaggerating a bit more on fat and volumes.

Third. Adding shadow and light to see how it looks.

    Fourth. More refinment on shapes.

The final touch I added in my concept, is that Fernandez is a proud fighter and collects the heads of the guys defeated by him!!! He has an extensive gallery of fighter's heads. And he likes to show those they are most proud.

So, he wears a necklace with heads of 3 masters: Akuma, from SF, the legendary Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris himself!

Later though, I realized that this style of caricatures didn't match to my original drawing. I realized too that it was more funny and absurd if I replace Akuma's head with Steven Segal. So I asked my girlfriend to help me with caricatures. She made to me this wonderful sketches.

    So, I reworked on these.

This new style fits much better with original character.

Really cool. I think you should darken the interior of the mouth of the monster to simulate occlusion.

Thank you guys, I'm happy that you like the character. There goes another up, iwth some more work on diffuse and normal maps. It's a turntable gif.

Yes, as gtiber states, REALLY COOL.

You know, at first, I was disturbed by the idea of the character BEATING Bruce Lee in a fight (Bruce Lee was one of my child hood and teen years icons-am I suggesting my age- ), but, I get it. Your just showing how powerful this creature is and those challenging him need to think twice about taking him on if he was able to beat Bruce, Chuck and Steven.

I also was thinking, Steven Seagal next to Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris? Well, I know Seagal was an amazing action hero on the big screen, but, what I did not know (after all these years) is that in real life he truely is a 7th-dan black belt in Aikido. Holly crap!! So, much do respect to Steven Seagal. He most certainly earns his right next to Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris.

And a shout out to your girlfriend, excellent style-

Anywho, as I already stated, will keep an EYE on ya-
