Default Dominance War V Entry (WIP) - darukin - To be Titled Soon

    LATEST UPDATE ON TOP:
    Front2.jpg

    Heya
I decided to enter DW contest this year for the first time.

I haven't decided on the title yet but will come to one soon as the character is fleshed out but I wanted to create a powerful dominant character of physical and ethereal presence with a frightening yet elegant aura about him which imposes fear and respect etc. I will flesh out more backstory while concepting and the same time

It's completely WIP so far and I was experimenting and concepting in Zbrush and Silo mostly Zbrush of course:

Here's what I have so far, most of upper body essentially

Will keep you guys updated with more WIP images

    Thanks Lizzard =)
I decided to roll with CGSociety.

As far as the matcap, I think it's an RS matcap, I'll have to check with stumpf first if I can share it though

Another WIP image for the end of today's session:
I'll take any suggestions guys even if it's this early on in WIP
    Cheers =)

Hey, thanks 3xtigy much appreciated =) I can't wait till I finish it

Here's today's progress. Very WIP, concept not finalized and some sections not even sculpted yet. I am tweaking concept throughout while I sculpt, it's simply how I roll.

A question: What attributes does this model invoke to you guys so far?

I think I preferred it when it didn't look like it was going to have legs, I was hoping for tentacles or something, nice work so far though

Thanks squidic, I actually was thinking hard about the decision of tentacle-like things or legs but chose the latter for some practical reasons I guess.

There are some structures of which I'm not sure whether to keep or remove , such as the cloth around his neck, and the 2 spikes behind his head

    Here's an update anyways:

nice! while looking at the image before, i was about to say that the legs are too short^^ now its better.

keep in mind that u have to retopo all this. a lot parts will be a pain to retopo i think^^

    Hey Lizzard thanks!
Man you're right, retopo will be huge pain especially with curved silhouette in many places and separate compnents, I may well have to make adjustments at the end, possibly remove some elements etc to optimize before retopo. It's just I don't want to have my creativity stifled in creation process in meantime

More progress. Still haven't made arms. Not sure if eye-tentacle things are working, but it's still very WIP and I'm awaiting your ideas on it.

going the hard retopo route will pay off.

im not a big fan of the tentacles. probaply try again with arms added.
i think knees should look outside, not inside.

you could also start with some different color schemes, give different parts different materials or colors.

    thanks for your input Lizzard4000!

Tentacles were just an experiment, as in these 4 eyes on all sides (I was beginning to think of something along qualities of vision/allseeing/omniscience etc. If it's not working will remove it

I am going to add arms regardless by the way. This is still very WIP as I said, not even arms have been added yet.

I think you're right I need to start color scheme soon to differentiate body and armor etc

I will pose the character so no worries bout legs they will be posed, this is just in T, but if it bothers you I guess I should adjust the T-pose also

    Thanks again Lizzard4000,
    Cheers

Didn't get to do much today.
Either way I differentiated materials a bit. They're placeholder colours so by no means are these the color schemes. I might remove tentacles entirely. I am going to add arms next. Knees are outwards now. Many accessories are still very WIP.

    Anyhow here's today's progress:

Thanks rouncer! Yes I plan to detail boots later, they are just base / placeholder for now, but so are several elements

    Here is today's progress:

Added arms. Haven't finished sculpting them of course. Made some armor adjustments. Sculpted tertiary details in some areas.
Will post more angles when ready
