    Default Polycount Brawl, Sub-Zero, aimanimation

Going for a futuristic badass killer redesign of Sub Zero. Less Magic, more Android, what I'd like to see in the upcoming movie. Any input is appreciated, I'm concepting all this week.

    hi there,

i like the concept, though there are some things i might change on it. Im a beginner in character creation, modeling or concept art, so u dont have to take my advice too seriously. Im just sayin.
So, I would definitly keep the hood, from the 3rd concept, and the cloth in front of his crotch from the 1st concept. Now things I would lose are the pipes, and the 3rd eye from his forehead. Other than that, it looks pretty awesome, so im waiting for an update. keep up the good work.

    Default Redesign

Thanks Csumbi. I'm a beginner in character design myself. It needed changes and It wasn't feeling like Sub Zero. Spent some time thinking about it and here's the new design, more futuristic and robotic but a lot more Sub Zero now! I think I'm going to run with this one.

Think you got beat to the punch. Not sure if this is a concept or a playable character in the upcoming game, but maybe you can draw some inspiration from it.
When you start to think of what everything around you would look like in wireframe, does that mean you have problems?

Thanks xDarkMessiahxX, But yea I was aware of this. I hope its a playable character in the new game! Its very cool cyber sub zero but its more along the lines of cyrax and secktor from the games, I'm going for a more android look myself, part machine, part human, not all machine.

Here's step 1: Base meshes for sculpting in ZB; I usually start these in Maya. base.jpg

Default Step 2 - Base Sculpting.

Step 2 - Base Sculpting and adding Mech Parts. I like doing both at the same time, when I get tired of poly modeling I sculpt and vice versa.
Loin Cloth and shoulder pads will be added later. BaseSculpting.jpg

    damn!

you are good, very good. and fast. a few days ago there only was a drawing, and bamm, now you have a fully detailed model. I wish I could be that fast.
BTW your model looks awesome. its gonna be one hell of a sub-zero. looking forward for your next post.

    Default low poly test

15 hours straight freelancing daily doesn't leave much time or energy for personal work. Doubt I'll make the deadline.

Did some low poly tests to figure out the tubes and straps. Also deciding whether to have pants for his legs. lowpoly.jpg

    Default Sculpting Update

Well, finally finished my freelance work, but lost 2 weeks in the process. I need another week of just modeling on my Sub-Zero (my own fault cuz I keep redesigning his mech parts) so its doubtful that I'll finish by Friday.

Shame, he's really starting to come together now. I'll try to finish in the coming weeks, here's a sculpting update. 08_Sculptingprogress.jpg

    Default Playing Around

Well, the contest is over, so no rush to finish it now, so rethinking the concept and playing around.

    Default Still at it

Thanks guys! I'm still at it making some big changes but I've got a definite direction now. Retopod the hard-surface and made arms and legs. Just got a full-time job so it's hard to get as many hours in a row but I'm going to try my best to make him portfolio worthy. I'm loving and hating going so slow with this but its only my second game character so It's a great learning experience. 10_Stillatit.jpg

great stuff, he's come along way from where you first started. But it seems sub has only been working on his upper body. his calves are too small. they had better proportion when he had the full shin guard. keep it up
