Smile Manny Calavera - Grim Fandango

Here is my entry for the Halloween challenge. Created and rendered in zBrush.
Comments welcome, although unfortunately I'm too busy with work to take this any further, so I think I'll have to leave it as it is!

If there was ever a game that could do with an HD re-release it's Grim Fandango!

Beautiful smoke! How did you do it? Is it drawn in PaintStop?

Got a little bit of moire pattern going on on his right cuff and shoulder; might need smoothing, or a higher anti alias setting.

I found some amazingly nice smoke alpha brushes by searching on google. They are photoshop brushes, but they still work as they are black and white so could be imported into zBrush. I'm afraid I am not patient enough to paint them by hand, and I have not had a chance to really explore the paintstop part of zbrush yet, so I ended up doing some blending in Photoshop because I needed to finish up quickly.

The moire pattern came in when I used the Noise option in zBrush, I messed with some settings but I couldn't make it go away. I rendered at 4500px high and then scaled it down so I thought that might help but no. If I get more time I will try to fix that

Thanks for commenting! (and you too Jerick)
