Can you please tell me the techniques you used to "texture" the tortoise? Did you images and projected them onto the tortoise or did you simply use polypaint? How did you make it so realistic?
I tried to use spotlight projection and it turned out to be horrible. And is there a way to "pick" a colour from the spotlight image and simply paint with that colour?

    Thanks

When I had a DT subscription this was one of my favorites. It's a great tutorial, and creating the armature is helpful for blocking out shapes.
I recommend watching the entire video, Peter has a great speaking voice and is a very calm teacher.

Fighting hippos for a new book. The format of the shot seems odd as there will be text at top left

Some new renders of my work for a new publication on Natural History.

The Tortoise is low res tests in keyshot and the Wart Hog was rendered by Andrew Kerr as I nearly smashed my Cintique trying to get zbrush fibers to work
