ZBrush 4R2b ZClassroom Movies.

Hi:)

We are starting a new series of ZCalssroom movies to cover the new features of ZBrush 4R2b. The first 4 movies are about FiberMesh™ and MicroMesh. More ZClassroom movies will be added as they become available.

Enjoy, learn and experiment with these features.

:large_orange_diamond: We have upgraded the movie controller to be compatible with most mobile devices, including the recent-generation iPhones and iPads. This is perfect when you are on-the-go and can’t use ZBrush but yet feel a strong need to learn more about it:)

:large_orange_diamond:If you have not yet upgraded to Z4R2b, please visit this thread.

:large_orange_diamond:Troubleshooting questions should be posted in the Questions And Troubleshooting Forums.

:large_orange_diamond: If you did not view the previously released ZClassroom movies about ZBrush 4R2, we highly recommend that you view these first in here.

:large_orange_diamond:If you create cool images utilizing the features described in these movies, please post in this thread and share with us and other members of ZBrushCentral.

Basics of FiberMesh™ A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury
This video will cover the basic controls of FiberMesh™ by generating fibers on the ZBrush dog. Once fibers have been accepted to be a SubTool the video will also showcase how you can select, mask, and paint specific fibers. The FiberMask and FiberUnmask features will also be discussed in this video.

Morph Target Guided with FiberMesh™ A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury model courtesy of: Kotelnikoff
With the ability to store morph targets ZBrush can bridge the gap between the two states of the mesh with fibers by using the Morph Target Guided option found in the FiberMesh sub-palette. This video will cover the basic operation of using the Morph Target Guided option.

Basics of MicroMesh A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury
This video covers the basics of using MicroMesh to render out a normal sphere as a sphere that takes on a look of individual gems. MicroMesh will convert polygons of the sphere into any selected mesh, in this case a gem at render time. Please note that when using MicroMesh ZBrush will be rendering the number of polygons of the sphere times the number of polygons in the MicroMesh.

Fibers with MicroMesh A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury
This video covers the ability to convert fibers into a MicroMesh at render time. The difference between using geometry and fibers with a MicroMesh is that the MicroMesh will be stretched along the fibers instead of just replacing each individual polygon of a mesh.

FiberMesh™ Tree Part 1 A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury
This video demonstrates the use of FiberMesh in constructing a tree-like structure.

FiberMesh™ Tree Part 2 A ZClassroom movie by Paul Gaboury
This video demonstrates the use of FiberMesh™ to create a leaf-like fibers combined with MicroMesh-ed flowers.

A huge thanks from me, zbrush has come along way and i cant wait to be fully acquainted with all of its new features.

Thank you for these videos will help me out alot. now i can see making scales, rocsks etc on the fly with micromesh. the fibermesh is awesome too.

Thank you very much. These videos are super useful!

Wow, love the MorphTarget Guide!

Thats quick, awesome pixologic! :+1:

I gotta say, Pixologic, you guys and gals have really delivered big time on this update! 4R2b is definitely filling a void I have been missing in my creature design tool kit! These demos help a lot as well to convey in a very clear and simple way the new features.

You done good! Thank you!

Sometimes is good to learn with trial and error but to get this far and start trial and error process is simply awesome  Thank You for these!

Amazing feature this “fiber mesh”. I realy love it!

Thanks Paul for sharing these videos.

The exploited!

Can already tell I will have a lot of fun with this feature

Thanx guys this will be fun to watch

Great work… I love these short tutorials, too the point and easier to look up as reference to a perticular problem, have bought lengthy DVD where the person is virtualy promoting his skill and not really getting much info over… more entertaining thant training…

I just have one major problem… THERE ARE TO FEW OF THESE… Please more even on old stuff… even if I must pay, at least I’ll get my monies worth in knowledge not entertainment…

Thanks Guys…

Thanks Paul,

It’s always nice to to have these foundational videos to help us wrap our heads around new tools.

Having watched the Fibers and Micromesh vid a few ideas have popped into the old noggins! Thanks Pixo for such an awesome update.

Cool!

The audio of the videos is way too low!

is there any way to convert micromesh into real geometry and not just render it? I don´t think so but i would like it

Very nice videos, thank you so much. :+1:
A video on using new fibers UVs could be interesting though.
It’s a very powerful addition. Many possible uses as to apply a gradient map to control transparency on other render engines. Or to have a nice displacement map fast. There’s an issue on the cap-tip though and the documentation doesn’t cover this specific problem.

@dangelos, I don’t think so, reading the documentation.

if the fibers are wide and have UV’s they could be used as card hair in Maya!
