    Default NelsonAnimation Sketchbook

So I've been wanting to start a thread here for a while. But I feel my work is still quite amateur, but I'll never improve if I don't put my work out there. So here it is.

    Comments & Critics are welcome.

Essentially yes, I am working to build a pipeline in developing characters in 3D ready for rigging then animation.

    Default Female Life Sculpt

Here is the progress on my current work with life sculpting in Zbrush. I am working the pose from a single ref image. As well as using anatomy books and guides for detailing.

    Default Characterized Self bust

I've been working on a characterized self bust for the past few months in my free time. Kinda sidetracking from the anatomy work above. I'm really liking where it is going though I think I could still bump up the quality. Below is where I am currently on with this piece and a few different materials to show off.

And Here in Bronze and Marble.

It would probably help for critique to have the ref I was working from.

    Default Einstein Hour Sculpt

Spend an hour this morning doing a quick sculpt of Albert Einstein.
For only an hour worth of work I think its turned out good.

Default Abe Lincoln 2.5 hr Sculpt

Here I spend about 2 1/2 hours on this sculpt earlier today. Spending more time on the piece allowed me to do a bit more clean up. I do like the idea of only working on a quick bust and calling it done in short time so I don't over work it and I don't loose interest in the piece. What I need to work on is extending the time I work on them but push them to a more rendered and textured state.

(On this one I did work a little with using AO, Shadow, and Mask layers for the final render.)]
The plus of working digital is I can always come back to these quick sculpts and work them further.

    Default Javelin turntable

Here is my latest anatomy study. All done within Zbrush. My main focus was the anatomy, with side work on props such at the javelin, shoulder strap, and his undergarment. I will state that I did spend what I feel was too much time on this piece, but I did learn quite a bit through the process. I hope to transition all that I did learn into my future work.
Enjoy, and as always comments and critics are welcome.

    Thanks.

Here is another character study. Spent about 3 hours on this guy, still in dynamesh. Worked from scratch no base mesh.
