Octane Render and Zbrush

Good morning everyone,
after some months I come back to post you some artworks of mine…
Sorry the the long silence but last October I became a professor of 3D computer graphics in Italy
and I was quite busy.
This time nothing in 2.5D as this one
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?130089-An-unusual-Zbrushing…/page1

The following images are rendering of digital sculptures create with Zbrush
and render in Octane Render,an incredible fast GPU render engine.

Nothing too much artistic, just some WIP,to show you the capabilities of Octane
connected of course with the incredible power of Zbrush…

Have a nice vision!

Francesco Mai

Fantastic works my friend you know. I’m sincererly honest to say that you deserve a top row spot and would be great a more in depth workflow in the use of Octane. Anyway last sculptures from you are just amazing. Speechless.:+1:

Hello my dear Daniele,
thank you for your words and for the encouragement to post some of these image…
Is not a mystery that Daniele and I not only are Italian but also “friends” (and I hope to meet him as soon as possible)
and sometimes speak about some artistic and technical aspects of Zbrush.

For who of you is interested here your are more!

Concerning the explanation of Octane Render I have to be honest and I used only the demo with some limitation.
Anyway the concept is simple…Created in Zb,imported in Octane, some fun with material, node editor eetc etc and VERY FAST
here you are your GPU render!Unbelievable…especially if you ave two or more med/high range Nvidia GPU.

very nice works and renders.
is it possible to post the rendertimes, size, etc… for some of the pictures?
i suppose octane is not real time rendering?

of course, a tutorial about the workflow would be awesome.

grtz p

Hello and thank you!

As I said before I used only the demo and one of the bigger limitation is the output resolution blocked at 1000X600 and
also the impossibility to save the scene etc etc…Of course with the full version you can render 16.000X16.000 and over,if you
have enough video ram.Yes,with gpu rendering you need gigas of vram instead of “classical” ram

Concerning the rendering time with a 670+560 Geforce Nvidia (you can mix different GPU and the increase of speed is linear, for
example for the same model 1 gpu=1 min rendering 2 gpu=30 secs,4 gpu 15 secs and so on…)I achieved those results in 5 minutes
more less!Keep in mind, five minutes for the FINAL images, for nice previews instead is REALLY real time! You move cameras, objects, change material etc and in real time you can see the rendered results in very nice quality.

I can suggest this for some very interesting tutorials…

And also the official forum of course

And here more of the same!

If this is not top row work i dont know what is… amazing job man

Wowww, how many compliments for these images!

Thank you so much!

thnx for the info.
looks great,
and i take a closer look,

for the moment i am testing keyshot,
which is a (rt) cpu based renderer and easy to use,
and nice results.
i run it on a 3930k, so i have nice performance, with 6 (12-ht) cores,
and there’s the rumour of a zbrush plugin for it.

imagine that!!
but it’s kind of expensive for hobby useage.

anyway.
your renders are amazing.

top row.

I just tried out octane, it’s really fast, but it’s still lacking a bit of shader options. It renders in seconds though , using a geforce680.

Keyshot is nice as well, a bit slower, but not that bad.

ow, thnx.
i have 680gtx, 2gb version
then i will try the demo too.

grtz p

I would love to scold you for vanishing like that!
I have been a bit worried.
But I won’t!
Welcome back!!!
These are amazing! I am going to have to try this out as well!

Congratulations on the new job!
That is an excellent accomplishment.

Cheers, and no more vanishing!
Mealea

I have Octane, and it is awesome.

It has some work to be done, but it is developing fast. If you have a decent graphics card (has to be Nvidia) it can be blisteringly fast, and it is totally scalable. Ad another card, render twice as fast.

This is a Zbrush mesh, decimated (even at that it’s around 3 million poly) and exported in to LW (which I have the plugin for) and it rendered in about 5 seconds.

As you can see with the work in this thread though, where it shines is very realistic, physically accurate, lighting and surfaces - rendered fast.

Very cool renders! The octane render seems very affordable too.
The last image I find even more interesting because of the assembling pieces. Do you mind sharing your workflow? Thanks!

Greetings to you my dear Mealea.
I am happy for yor worry about my silence.I have to know that every day I take a look at ZB Central and of course follow your very
interesting experimentation.I was little busy with the work of teaching at Accademy but I am ready to a very creative time so
in next weeks I will post more artworks.
Keep in touch!

Dear Rudy,
thank also to you for writing.I take a look at your website and I see a lots of very interesting digital sculptures rather
than your works are related on characters creation;I usually are more abstract oriented

Concerning the workflow for these images the most part of them are create with IMM brush (insert multiple mesh).
Exported and imported in Octane render with some HDRI images as environment, some tweak on material…et voilait…

I forget to show these…always render in Octane Render
As you see if you spend some time on material you can achieve very
interesting results.

I hope you like them!

As you already knew these are among my faves with Octane…fantastic works , i laugh at your file names being italian eheh mine are landscape_final_def_123_ultimo_01_last_highres etc…
i’ve arrived to name a file so long that cause problems opened in zbrush . Congrats again for those amazing results.

I missed this new work Francesco. Oh my.
Wonderful sculpting, beautiful renders. By any aspect.
Amazing!!!

Hello Daniele,kind as usual!

Maybe digital artists are very able with mind and tools but less for the titles!
Usually give "technical"name probably like you

Hello to you dear Michealis,it is long time that we don’t “speak”.
I am really very happy for your impression about these new images…
And don’t forget that they are technical experiments just to learn
better Octane Render. When I will buy the full license with no limitation
I will test the incredible potential of Octane…

By the way…another images for you!Always render in Octane Render
