Default Twisted Horror (Gremlins) - Gizmo & The Gremlins (Rock Band Poster)

This will be my first ever ZBrush contest since I just recently purchased this amazing app. I am badly in need of learning more about ZBrush amazing sets of tools and also how to create hard surface in it.

So, I decided to go with Gremlins since I really love that movie. I intend on creating a stage set with Gizmo as the lead singer, as well some variations of Gremlins for guitarist, bassist and drummer. Also including some amps, cables, stage stuff really.

This will be a massive challenge for me but It is something that will allow me to really get a better grasp on ZBrush furthermore.

I am off to watch again both Gremlins movies and then I will start gathering references materials and start sketching the overall idea.

I know I probably don't have any chances of winning, but I am not doing it for the winning, rather for the experience and learning. So good luck to everyone and happy ZBrushing

Nice! I really like this one. You should do a crowd in the foreground, and some cool lighting and fog effects. Rock on!!!

    Default Update Stage WIP

JayCally: Thanks I am not too sure how I can do some spot lights that casts shadows and create colour effects nor fog for that matter inside ZBrush ! If you know a way, please let me know

Here is what I got so far on the stage blocking, I did the amp first, which I duplicated a few times.
Any C & C is more then welcome

It might be just the camera angle, but it doesn't look like the stage is deep enough to fit the band on. Especially the drummer.
But this is a good start. You are farther along than I am. I haven't decided which concept to go with yet.

Default Cannot find a good way to create spot lights, anybody has any idea how?

A stage without spots and fog machines just isn't a rock band stage. I find that ZBrush is really limited in what it can render. I may have to re think my idea a bit. Perhaps making the band members more like an album cover in a photo shoot in cool poses. This would require a lot less lighting effects and could use a simple backdrop.

But why not use photoshop for fog and lighting effects? It says in the rules you can use a post processing software along with ZBrush

    Default Gizmo Dynamesh Sculpt

ansin: I don't own photoshop, I use GIMP, non the less, it would be too much faking and nit picks to make it look right, I'll just go for something a little simple Thanks

Today I started the base sculpt of Gizmo. It was tricky to try to figure out a realistic anatomy for him, so I went for chubby little creature

Very quick render from inside Zbrush, basic settings, eyes are a subtool

    Default FiberMesh Update

Today I started fidling with the fiberMesh and I got this so far, I must say it takes a while to get used to work with it, but its pretty powerful non the less

Still need some tweeks. Next, Retopo and then detailing + texturing.

Looking really good. I know this is still early on, but I'd suggest trying to soften out the fur. I haven't used fiber mesh much, so i'm not sure how.
