Default Twisted horror (Alien) alien, grocery shopping

    hi all!

i'm a bit late into the fun. been debating wether or not i had time for this, but with such a fun theme i gotta try. it's also been awhile since i last participated in a challenge.

my idea was to take one of the most horrifying creatures and place in one of the most boring everyday scenarios. thought id make a nice contrast.
-so, i'll go with alien doing grocery shopping. perhaps with a egg in the shopping cart or so.

    have fun all.

    updates will come soon.

very rough blocking of some of the main components.

the cart is all done by basic primitives and zspheres. alien is zspheres and then the body has been zremeshed once for a nicer starting point, for further blocking.
hands and feet on the alien will be added as seperate ztools.

    here is a small update.
i turned the head into dynamesh and started to rough out some of the more dominant features. the vents and wires on the side of the neck and head was done with zsphere and the "insert cylinder" brush.
the new chest piece was done with zspheres and then dynameshed.
more to come soon, plus i hope to have arough concept of the scene up next too.

    Default haha fantastic

    Hey rasmusW,

I love your concept, the extraordinary meets mundane, it's fantastic. I also love the idea of putting the egg in the cart, however I was wondering if you had considered putting a screaming baby Alien in the shopping cart. I think it will add to the idea of portraying this character in a different light. Anyway, keep up the good work!

    hey guys!

thanks for the kind words. been busy with non 3d stuff, so i haven't had much time for this, though i have managed to cramp in a little work here and there. tonight i did another part of the scene. the facehugger.

Vurian: that's a great idea, though i think the facehugger will play the part as "the kid" here. at least that was my initial thought. it might change now...

here is a few pics... i did a little more work the alien (really need to get moving, if i am to make for the deadline).
it also occurred to me that i hadn't really made any "making of" like the beautiful ones i've seen in some of the other threads here, i decided to make a timelapse of the facehugger sculpting. it's all pretty standard sculpting (zspheres, dynamesh..).

    facehugger: making of

looking forward to hear what you think.
