Naughty Dog UGM Extended-UPDATE #3 Frank Tzeng

A little while back, Pixologic and the Gnomon School of Visual Effects hosted a User Group Meeting with the team from Naughty Dog Games. This was the company behind, “The Last of Us” – one of the most successful games of 2013 and receiving of critical acclaim for its art direction.

We have previously shared recap videos from the event. Unfortunately, one evening was simply not enough time to spend with these talented artists! Michael Knowland, Brad Smith, and Frank Tzeng have been gracious enough to provide extended footage that expounds upon their demonstrations. We hope that you enjoy this opportunity to continue learning from this great team!

Do not see settings matcap Please can hd version of the video?

Very nice video, especially with using the light source/material to cast those shadows in order to bring out the folds for a in game feel. Thanks. :+1:

Thank you!! I’m hopeful for even more

Very cool thanks for sharing. I’d like to try out that matcap when sculpting cloth.

Awesome! Love. / J

thanks for this and all the other UGM tutorials. really great content!

awesome!

what a straightforward approach to cloth sculpting with just standard and clay brush. Just like anything in art, it’s the artists’ eye that gets the results most of the time.

Looking forward to more workflows.

Awesome! Anyone know if Michael posted his matcap somewhere?

great stuff! Love it that your expanding upon your UGM . Esp. for those that couldn’t make it!

really nice work looking forward to the other videos.
