Starting to get creative with the design a bit. I want it to be the character but not necessarily anime style. Maybe a touch more realism. Here's progress! Dont be shy! Comment! Critique! It makes me better!

Coming along nicely. Looks like a reasonably accurate portrayal of the character. My big beefs are with the proportions. Legs aren't long enough and the head is too wide. Perhaps that's what you were aiming for, but you didn't say so basing that critique off the ref sheet

nice man!, i think he came up pretty kool. makes me want to go and make ichigo. Too bad he was only in one small part of the season.
    - I know ur done, but if u want some critique anyway, perhaps the hole is too wide for my taste, its much smaller in the anime, but that is personal pref i guess, u did say u weren't following that too closely.
    - Keep an eye on your anatomy, some of your proportions are off. most noticeable is your Biceps, triceps, calves and upper legs. While in the realm of monsters and make believe, its always good to keep your anatomy based on reality where possible. makes it more believable in the end.
    - His horns are a little distracting.. possible because they seem pretty huge or thick.. not sure. or maybe its the heavy detail? cant put my finger on it.
    - his black clothing seems a little thick too, makes it seem super heavy
    - and his cloth folds i would have liked to see them accentuated a little more. will help with adding a bit more detail to that area.. without adding micro details.
    - i think the pose is really nice and dynamic
    - i like the big strands of hair you did, i think if u added a few more smaller one to make it seem a bit more wispy would look kool.. i think it could also be just the camera angle of the final colour image. the hair stands out more in your alternate angles in the grey images. looks nice!
    - i would either remove that black sphere in his head altogether, or model a basic head. the sphere doesn't do anything for your model.
    - rocks came up really nice maybe add some floating rocks or pebbles to imply power!! lol
    - i would also add some discoloration to his fingernails and toenails, they kinda blend in with his hand atm. would make them nice and evil looking.

Hope you dont mind the critique.. just trying to help.. overall i think its great mate. keep up the good work.!
Wish i could have seen this sooner.

Hey Jutsu! Thank you VERY much man i REALLY appreciate the critique. Asked for one since the beginning of the character and you're the first haha so thank you!

I agree with 90% of everything you said. Unfortunately i was doing him for the Comicon Challenge so i had to get him done by the deadline and waited to long to start him. I would love to go back and touch him up though so i will make note of everything you said! And yes HUGE bummer he was so short in the series lol

    - Hole in chest: Yea i wanted to exaggerate it a bit. I wanted to make it look really nasty and not like "ah no biggie" lol
    - Can you be more specific on what im missing on the anatomy? In the Anime he is REALLY long/lanky so i tried to keep a bit of that without making him ridiculously long so i stretched everything. Or tried to lol I would love to hear your thoughts!
    - horns check! I'll thin them a bit
    - cloth unfortunately i had to bite the bullet on. Like i said rushing for the deadline i just threw the pattern on it and called it done. That is the thing i am most unhappy about and will be spending the most time on when i go back!
    - Thanks! I have to say i love the pose lol (pat myself on the back here! jk jk)
    - Good call on hair strands and floating rocks i like it!
    - I think you're right about the black sphere... in the show he is like a black empty void behind the mask and with his mouth open i wanted to capture that but i dont think it turned out too well.... not sure, maybe a black face would look better maybe just nothing there...? i dunno
    - Totally think youre right on the color! Thank you!

I love and appreciate the critique man! They make me better! I am very grateful!

ur welcome.. i know how hard it is to get critique on this forum, barely anyone comments on mine either. lol
    - As for the anatomy, just keep in mind proportion even if ur chr is lanky, each area of the body has a specific measurement / relation to another. and bare in mind what muscles do when they are contracted. for example, a bent elbow forces the bicep to enlarge as it contracts, you have the flat bicep in place but nothing to imply its under stress or contracted. same goes for his calf muscle and so on. that will help to add some more realism.
    - the cloth i understand, just something to keep in mind for next time. A model is never finished, only abandoned. there is always room for improvement on everything we do.
    - and the black sphere, you can always just delete it or whatever, and in photoshop just darken that area up for the final image. might be one way to do it.

    hope that helps.

Awesome! Thank you that helps very much!
