I want to use Zbrush for Hard surface (For Production)

Is it possible to use zbrush for sculpting hard surface and later to use that for retopology to be ready for animation? Does studios accept someone to work like this?

It is possible. It is not always the most efficient way of doing things, and any production pipeline is going to be concerned with efficiency.

There are many ways to do things in 3D. There is usually more than one right way, but there is also a wrong way to do things.

Like Spyndel said it’s going to be more about efficiency and how easy/hard it will be to implement in your studio’s pipeline. Sometimes something appears to be much faster to do in Zbrush. However sometimes what is the fastest way is not the most efficient. Sometimes the quick work is skipping over important details, things that can affect work later down the pipeline. Animation, rigging, etc. are good examples of things that are greatly affected by the modeler’s work.

Currently hard surface modelling is more efficient in other software packages instead of Zbrush. This may or may not change with ZR7 and later versions of Zbrush. It also doesn’t mean someone can’t come along and figure out an efficient way of doing things involving Zbrush in their workflow.

MentalFrog, when you say its less efficient then other software what do you mean by that? Is statement do to the shear poly count of the the standard Zbrush object or just the lack of current low poly modeling tools?
