    Default Cartoon Frog Character WIP

I bought Shane Olson's tutorial so I could try my hand at a cartoon character. I took the frog in a slightly different direction from his, but I used his techniques of using primitive shapes to start the body. I also plan to insert a zshere rig in order to pose the frog in different poses and used layer to start doing expressions. Not complete. Here is what I have so far.

Cool thanks! I will be trying my hand at ZRemeshing him, then getting model ready for posing and expressions. Hopefully by the time I am done, the new ZB will be out and I'll have something to try out in Vray!

    Default A few Keyshot tests

I know everything is still rough here, but couldn't wait to send it over to KeyShot and do some tests!

Thanks! It's a great exercise. I'll keep adding parts while I learn the new bits of ZB and keyshot.

    Default Firefly character

Played around in Keyshot until I got the body "light". It didn't seem to shine much light so I added a hidden light just below it to reflect on the legs. Added a second light to light the face. Rendered with pre-blurred background plate. Added motion blur and eye highlights in Photoshop.

Rebuild the ridges on the glow body:

    Default Firefly character2

Added some layers to add a non-flying pose. At some point I have to get these over to the frog scene. Still working out how exactly I can go from ZB to KS once I have added KS materials, then saved files, close down, and reopen them.
