    Default Lady Marmalade

Hi, I'd like to share this piece with you guys I've spent quite sometime trying to get her expression look natural, but a lady's smile is really a killer ( so sweet to look at yet so difficult to get it right) I used reference from 3dsk. With this piece I also wish to practice the use of fibermesh and Marvelous designer, as I started to feel a little rusty with them. Rendered in Maya Mental Ray and tweaked in Photoshop.

The name of the roses on her hair is Lady Marmalade, that's where the title of this piece comes from. The lady's name in 3dsk is Kay.

wonderful sculpt, looks natural to me .
Expressions are not easy ,I'm working on a generic pinup mod
smile has to be believable or the whole thing is off.
Looks great to me love to see the finished work .

Had same prob. with smiling woman not long ago too.
My wife entered and said:" Make her smile a little bit less!"
"Hey, but look at my reference!"
"That's a photo-model! Everything is "over" proportional on her."

Well, I reduced the smile just a bit and suddenly everything seemed to "plopp" into right proportions.

Your reference "Kay" has this special double fold in mouth corner. What makes her a bit special as a human, makes it harder to get it believable without knowing her.
I am just thinking........anyway it seems that you also stepped a bit in this "model trap" but solved it very nicely.

    Thanks for the kind words
Yes Knacki, in the references she grinned a little too much. Originally I followed just like the reference but my husband said it is creepy... So I dialed it down and she is much pleasant to look at

The eyes really make a difference. Gives her much more life and warmth.

    Hahahaha,
so it seems that we both have married our personal critic.
Eyes made her much more likeable btw.!
I like to add "watching" eyes pretty early, to give my work personality which I can correspond with, and I am feeling responsible for
Hahaha, using an fitting eye material for a matcap, the character is continuously staring at you, saying something like:" Seriously! This is my face what you are ruining right now! Stop it!"

Thanks for sharing - ah yes and congratulation to your big "once in a lifetime" event.

    Best,

    Knacki
