Hi all, I just wanted to start a thread getting my work up and out there for people to see and get some feedback on. I have dozens of these incomplete Z-sketches laying around and its about time I started finishing them. I will start out as all redwax sculpts and as I complete textures and maybe get keyshot, well, I'll update. So....first up is the:
Majestic Ass-Antlered Bug Moose
Well...I was and still am surprized that no-one reacted to your work. And I consider it an honour to be the first here - I logged in especially for this! - to congratulate you. You have a sound technical know-how and a vivid imagination.
Don't worry that no-one has reacted up to now because there is so much going on that good work sometimes gets overlooked.
So keep on posting.
And whenever you feel like starting to play with UV maps and texturing: do so. But meanwhile keep on letting-it-flow.
Combined with the names you give, these are a pleasure to behold>
Thank you, I have been doing this a long time and am always in awe at how much great work is churned out all the time. Its good to be struck by that realization that, no matter how much you think know, there is always so much to learn. Most of these guys are just in the sketch stage right now and not fully production ready. Some have UVs, some have texture and shader development, but mostly what I will post here will be just the raw models. I figure since its the Zbrush forum I will post the Zbrush models. I am debating getting the whole keyshot bridge thingy, would like to hear opinions on that. I usually use Arnold for rendering, but if I can skip a few steps and go directly to Keyshot...well thats pretty appealing.
I printed this one out in plastic.....not the best medium but good enough for the size and scale able for more valuable materials like bronze. Eventually I do plan to do a bronze casting of this, but it will be a pretty penny, so will hold off a bit. I do like the translucent qualities the plastic imparts though when you hit it with a strong LED light. Please check out the contact sheets below:
I also printed this one out, but this time in bronze. The images to follow will show the raw bronze (gold) and the patina and polish of the finished piece (black and gold). I used a simple sulfur solution to get that deep black you see in the bronze, then just dremeled down the high points with a wire wheel. He is not big, you can see he fits in the palm of my hand, only about 5cm across.
Love the nymph - of course.
The skull is also well done, and it's interesting to see it cast in bronze, but I am less into skulls than into nymphs. Which is a personal choice of course.
Thanks for adding all those detail images. They really show how detailed you sculpt.
