IFCC: Xenomorph and Zombie 3D prints

Hey everyone.
I recently gave a presentation about Zbrush and 3D printing at IFCC 2016. It was an awesome experience, I had an amazing and met some amazingly talented people. I thought I’d share on here a couple of the prints I made for the demo.

Both models were sculpted in Zbrush and printed on an Ultimaker2. There were various parts that had to be printed on a form2 due to small parts such a teeth. After printing there was a bit of clean up and sandind followed by gluing, filling, more sanding and finally painting.

Man those pieces are awesome. That fat dude is so frikkin’ great! And the xenomorph looks bad ass. Great, great stuff!

Nice work!!

Thanks guy’s, Really glad you like them

creepy characters, but sculpt and print so great!

The prints look great!

Thanks guy’s,nice work!

Those sculpts and prints are amazing. I have an Ultimaker 2+. The 0.15mm nozzle (also works with the UM2 with Olssen block) which produces incredibly small details. What do you use for dividing your sculpt into interconnecting parts?

Really impressed by your print and nice sculpt !

What do you use for merge the 3d printed parts ?

Hi Lunar,

I can’t speak for the OP, but I have experience joining 3D printed parts and I can tell you that for PLA there’s nothing better to use than Weldon 4. It is a chemical welding agent. The bond strength is incredible (the joint will not be your weakest link) and it sets up in like 30 seconds. https://www.amazon.com/Weld-Acrylic-Adhesive-Applicator-Bottle/dp/B0096TWKCW

Hi Fuzionist,
Thanks for your answer, i mark that, this is a good information to know.

But i meant, what do you use for hide the intersection between the parts, maybe something like milliput ?

I am interested to know this as well. I can see in one of the photos that he has Apoxie Sculpt (https://www.avesstudio.com/apoxie/apoxie-sculpt). OP?
