Love your chicken! Note: Do not get obsessed with this toplogy thing, it will be changing radically over the next 2 years. Not saying it's not important. However truthfully I give it little regard, perhaps because I come from a NURBS background or perhaps because I know it has less impact than some imply for a lot of work.

Don't be shy, your all looking at working in the wrong industry for shy people.

Stand, up, sing out and flash us something to look at! That is what we are all about, so let's have it!

Make mistakes, crush it, start anew, do it over and over, then you will find it is easy and fun as it should be. Learn through repetition and constantly work from different angles NOT correct side up.

You can tell I was once a very scary teacher for a a couple of colleges!

The whole point of this thread is to apply a real world process/approach to modeling in Zbrush. I chose the zsphere approach as akin to armatures of wire an clay (or what have you) and unless people do a few and post some specific issues it gets ASS-U-MEd that it iss working - I hat that word (caps).

In truth the last armature I posted could easily be used for your bird and if you did that it would open up some very interesting possibilities....

Will the bird be culled because of a possible case of bird flu?

Well I like the structure the zsphere head armature is providing. I made a lot of underlying changes to the character I posted earlier to check flexibility and I'll just have to start from scratch and build another to see if it holds. If so, I'll post it up for those interested in attaching it to the latest full body armature I put up.

Anybody got the PC compliant version done yet??

Not yet Jason, I am hoping to have some time this weekend to get something together and have a little play. If it stays this chilly out here...I'll definitely be locking myself in my office with the heat cranked up with nuttin but zbrush and silo staring at me! BRRRRRRR

Jason .. just a quick courtesy post to say 'Thanks for your efforts' .. this is looking cool. Too many outstanding projects of my own (outstanding in the sense of 'late', rather than as a description of quality) to be able to spend any time on this anytime soon. Apologies .. but keep going. It's fascinating to watch.

Maybe some are waiting to see how this will change with the 2.5 release?
Your recent character, it's a really nice one btw, what material are you using (the previous page, bottom post), level 8, super!

Heheh had a shy teacher once, didn't learn a thing...(was even too shy to give us homework).

Thought I'd post something again in this most excellent thread of yours, building on the Degas sculpture pose idea from before.
Actually Ryan's thread also inspired a revisit to this idea too.
Haven't finished it yet, but thought this would be a good stage to turn in some homework...

Found that level 5 and 6 weren't enough for the detail I wanted, so now I'm trying level 7... (might need level 8, ermph, redo).
Can't remember which version of your rig this was done from, sorry 'bout that, but it was a fairly recent one.
Seems I never get it spot on anyway, but that's a big part of the learning process too.

In a way not being able to use your Mac versions straight away has been helpful for getting to know the zspheres (rebuild).

Haven't had too many problems so far posing, thanks to the info you've posted here throughout your thread.
Looking forward to your more concise tutorial (you spoke of earlier) when you have the free time to do it...
    Thank you Jason! UROCK!

Curious as I am I played 10 minutes with the superbody_5c, some bending and inflating. I was surprised about the elegant way the model behaved. Great work Jason! I have to read this thread again! Deep bow for your work!

aminuts, moochie, get it in gear!

joe_seig, thanks and many may very well be waiting, shame if they think that will be the holy-grail of the process. I see it more of an extension to the process, but the main issue I see with that is the loss of ability to keep the same mesh map. Unless of course you start from a custom mesh, add zsphere structure and work from that, but we'll see. The new process dos look like it works well, however I see some things that worry me. Until it gets released and proves me wrong.

As for your Degas interpretation, I think it's amazing and I'm glad this thread pulled that ouy of you.

As for the material, I think it was one of my many toon shader interpretations as I worked to corresponding capability in Zbrush and renders under Pixie (or 3Delight, Renderman, etc.). Want it?

Bas Mazur, welcome and thank you, your input will also be greatly appreciated.

Janimatic, where is the chicken dude!

    Talking hips

well youve answered one of my questions about zspheres just by looking at it
i was wondering how to make hips without playing with the model too much cause i usually end up screwing it up but now i see how you spent your zspheres and im gonna try the same

Jason, concerning the zsphere posing with an imported mesh in the next 2.5 release, well I was blown away when I first saw the sample.
I won't ask what worries you have with the new process, (I'm sure that's top secret anyway), and it'll be resolved by the release date.
Having never really understood zspheres before, participating here has been a great learning experience, and I do truly appreciate that.
When 2.5 is released, I'm sure many who have played with or rebuilt your current setups will be glad they did.

This thread by Pixolator was recently up again on the main forum (thanks Bas).
Not sure if it has been previously linked in your thread here...
Was it at this time that you started exploring the usefullness of pose to pose setups?

As for your material, sure I wouldn't mind checking it out...looks like clay, yummy!

As for the "Little Dancer, 14 yrs Old", she's at 2.5 million polys at level-7, so level-8 may be out of the question for my current system.
    (2GBS ram, dual Athlons, 128mbs Quadro4 980 XGL card, Windows 2k)
Sometimes the program will stall (but not crash) when changing levels. I'll get an "Insufficient Memory" window popping up.
    I just ignore that warning.
After a few minutes Zbrush works out the memory issue and is back to work.
Just have to wait a little instead of ending the program.

Hey thanks I'm glad this thread pulled that out too, when I photographed it my intention was to recreate her, so your info showed me a way.

Hello to Bas too, yes why not do some others?

Hey Frenchy did you flip that photo horizontally, or find it on the web that way?
Anyway I'm nowhere close to that yet, need to tweak the pose some more... (and everything else).
Thanks for the reference Frenchy, not sure if i have that one.
