Ahhhh, Marcel, yet again you make my day... Every post of your work is a true joy.

It's funny, but I was wanting to do a Clint Eastwood caricature the other day. I started it, but it's not there yet. I want to try your image map/modeling technique soon. Maybe that will get me going.

Either way your lighting and color are always a thrill.

Thanks for sharing with us, Bro!

that van cleef is freaking awsome!
am i understanding correctly, that your mapping a picture onto a caricature mesh model? then using that as your main texure source? or are you hand painting it?
just wondering, whichever technique your using, it looks amazing!

    congrates.

thank you for your warm comments!!! on the texture question, it depends... it's a funny thing in 3d that you can map a geometry of a caricature of a guy, by , if available, a photo of him... well, parts of photo; here, in the case of lee van cleef, I had'nt good photos, as it was from Google's research, and the same research will give you the photos used; so, I've re paint most of the texture, and applied via projection master; for de funes, it's all different painted textrure; for bronson, I used one photo, with his hair "salt and pepper"as we said in french, and of course I cut parts of that photo, painting around the eyes, for example, and the nose, which is much more shorter than in a true portrait; but the hair, and the chin, are textured by part of the photo, and for example once the chin's texture has been applied, with his very distinctive carved horizontal line, I did a very gently z sub on that line, to create after a little geometry matching the texture... anyway, it's important to get the likeness, caricature or not, at the mesh step, because the best texture's photo will not give the likeness by itself; at the end, I join the start for Clint eastwood... as you see, it's far far from the end, and I'm not sure at all that it will be a good end!... let me add that the "pretty" men (I mean, You understand, like redford, pitt, and so on) are very difficult to caricature, because nothing can be really exagerate... faces like van cleef, or woody allen, or so on, are much more easy... why all these guys, in the movie, are so perfect!!!it's a pity!....

nice pictures. Could you post the zbrush render of Lee Van Cleef before the photoshop manip? Would be interesting to see how far you pushed it before adding the last touches... To me it seems there were quite some after touch up on the picture... black lines, smudgy areas and even .jpg artifacts here and there...

The Charlie Bronson pic is quite cool eventhough the body doesnt really match the quality of the head.

Thank you again!... and yes, there is a lot of manip photoshop, of course, .. it's difficult to get back the whole initiazl render, but if you are interestred by the straight 3d base, as coming out of zbrush, modelled and textured, and exported in carrara, here is a detail... everything else , (on the face and torso, of course, i don't talk of the gun and hat) has been painted; it's precisely the little hairs around the front, and the end of mustache, and things like that, and the smoke, alsoleetetegrosplan.jpg ... of course, there are renders with different specular, to match the differencve between skin and clothe...

All this ? You worked well lately. All the works are magnificent, and even if they are caricatures, they are very resembling. A big congratulation to Marcel.

PS: The realization with L. Of Funes is brilliant. You would make a futuristic remake of "Le gendarme de Saint Tropez 2010".

I haven't been to the forum in a few days, my loss.
Every adjective I wish to use has been used.
    Every compliment has been paid.
This is the type of work, if I had been blessed with the
talent, that I would like to have made.
I used to cringe when I would see the word fan used.
For your work, I am proud to say it.
    Fan of Marcel.
