    Default The Dryad

Hello everyone, I'm afraid I'm yet another first-time poster

I've been playing with zBrush for a couple of weeks now, and have fallen hopelessly in love! I just can't get over how intuitive a package it is, just incredible. Anyway, I'm rambling - mecman's 'Elemental' image totally inspired me, as did Froyd's Wood Textures, and this is what emerged - its called The Dryad. 90% zBrush, a few tweaks in Photoshop (I added the Dryad and lighting effects). Anyway, I'm delighted to be finally posting after mooning at the work here for so long!

Thanks for looking and take care,

    Phil

I like it. It makes me want to explore to see what else is there. If I could just step over the roots and go toward the sunlight and see what's on the other side.

Nah, probably just another McDonalds or something hehe.

    Thanks for the feedback guys,

I've moved in a different direction with the image, have been creating new branches and added dwellings - am ramping up to do one big final pass at this with lots more detail /depth and characters dotted around the place. I'd added suspension bridges but the lack of perspective makes them look a little flat, so I took them out. Speaking of which, as a zBrush noob - is there any viewer plugin that lets you have a non-orthographic view? Will 2.5 include a perspective view?

    Thanks a million for looking,

    Phil

theres a perspective button in the draw menu at the top - is that not what you want?
on a mac the perspective view can be 'live' not so on a pc -

Great forest modelling my friend.Looks very fantasy!!

But I think that if the title of your work is the DRYAD,you must give more space and evidence to the forest female-creature.

Another thing,in the irish (and nordic) mithology the Dryad is a nature spirit that lives into an OAK.Maybe this will be useful for you.Why don't you try to model an Oaks forest?I think that this would be a damn cool work.

Thanks again for the comments guys -

Matt, you can see The Dryad in the first post - the image has since become something else, as sometimes happens, but I couldn't change the title of the thread! You never know, a Dryad may appear in another iteration.

Frenchy thanks so much for the links - I have to say I'm happy to model my own trees, they're such fun to do! (with only the three 'branch tools' above you can create an unbelievable level of complexity)

As for Froyd's wonderful tree textures, that's what I'm using already!

    Cheers,

    Phil

Very nice!!!!! Only thing I'd change is that the interior light shining out should be more yellow (warmer). It would look very inviting then. I'd move right in 8-).
