Texturing Help...

I have been using ZBrush purely for entertainment purposes.
I am a noob that has tried very hard to learn the steps in making
a good looking face.I have read and used many of the tutorials
to help me along the way.There is still alot i don’t understand though.
Here is my most recent face i have been working on.I understand that this doesn’t compare to the work you guys are doing but i am very pleased with
it considering that i am a noob and am not an artist by no means.

The questions that i have are

What is the best direction i can take for making heads.
I start out using Sphere3d and the initialize @ 64x64.
Then i make it a Polymesh 3d.
After i am happy with the low res editing i step up in sub division levels
and continue editing.
Now that i have a face i am happy with i wanted to paint it.
I have read alot about the UV Cordinates and such but it is not
working out for me at all.

I have created a texture for it @ 4096x4096.
Isn’t this big enough?
After creating the texture i go to and select the cuv option.
Isn’t that suposed to setup the texture so i can paint on it without having
all these areas that doesn’t want to apply paint.

“Example” - I paint the face and alot of spots does not want to cover.
And no matter how many times i spin the object and paint on it,it still
has all the spots that look terrible.
So i figured that i missed some step i was suposed to take but i must
miss it in every tutorial i read also.
If anyone can understand this terrible writing i did and maybe explain what
i am doing wrong please reply back.
Also keep in mind that i am a noob but can move around the Zbrush interface very good.Sorry about the terrible explaining i did.
