Next, I have to model a tree. Maya is not the best tool to do that, so Zbrush is there with its fantastic Zsphere:

The tree is render with Maya software and a dome that I’ve created with 40 directional lights and another one to be the keylight…
lookin cool there! i think the grass parts sprouting out of his spine and head are really interesting, they give him a more dynamic feel. the root guy is great too, thats a cool pose you’ve got him in. the renders are coming along nicelye as well. no crits right now from me, i’m looking forward to seeing some more
looking good… how do you make all the roots in maya is that paint effects or all moddeld ?

The roots are modeled using curves snapped to a geometry using “makelive” option.
