    Default RootMan, The Journey begins...

    HI all !
Here is my new concept for the CGsociety challenge.

    A root man.

    The modeling in maya:

The beginning of the work in ZB:

    Maya render with MR...

Then I deecided to model one leader, a Rootman only made of root. Here is the beginning in Maya:

    curves3.jpg

    Next:

    master8_pt.jpg

In this case, sorry guys but it is all maya work. So I thought some Zbrush work is missed in this character, so I modeled askullhead:

    Start in Maya:

    skullhead.jpg

    Then Zbrush:

    skullhead_zb.jpg

Then rendered in Maya with tweaked geometry and texture done in Zbrush:

    skullrender.jpg

Here is the render of the Rootman's Leader with all the element:

Next, I have to model a tree. Maya is not the best tool to do that, so Zbrush is there with its fantastic Zsphere:

    tree.jpg

    next:

    tree2.jpg

    and next:

    tree3.jpg

Some deformation done after the Zsphere modeling:

    tree4.jpg

A test render in Zbrush with the texture:

    tree_diffuse.jpg

And the render in Maya with the geometry and texture exported from Zbrush:

Nice trees. Have you rendered your images with mentalray?

Good luck on the challenge !

The tree is render with Maya software and a dome that I've created with 40 directional lights and another one to be the keylight...
