    Default Sabien the sabertooth

Heres somthing ive been working on and what fun i had doing this took me a while to figure out how to get the 2 mats to render seperatley.
i rendered the background with the ice mat then baked it and did the same with sabien.
is this the way its suppose to be done or is there another way of putting a scene together with different mats in it.

love the lion..very cute and cuddly.

If you are modeling everything in the beginning with the same material etc and placing them on the canvas then I would do it as you have done it with the layers. Makes it easier to paint or to go back and change things that aren't working or give individual layers their own lighting ....and a little tip I picked up on that is probably old hat for alot of the people around here but....

you can take one layer and add fog ...do a Best render....then bake that layer....then turn the fog off and the fog shading will be baked onto the objects in that layer and not onto the background or other layers...

have a good one and keep up the good work.

edit....also now that you have the lion baked on his layer...try playing a bit with the Fiber brush....use 15-20 on the intensity settings with rgb selected only..zadd on...with same settings.. mess around with the sliders in the Draw dropdown menu...you can change your brush sizes and hair depth etc there..and also play withe sliders in the Modifiers in the Tool pallette when you have the Fiber brush selected...lots of fun in that tool...

    Looking good. Love that stump

I think this will prove to be a very cute and enjoyable image when done and will be also pleasurable to all to watch it's growth.

It's taking on life. And yes you are getting a handle on the fiberbrush. If you didn't know or hadn't realized yet, you can go into the Draw pallette and in the preview winder you can turn it sideways and adjust the length of the fiber strokes, and the width and height of the brush as well. you can imbed the stroke etc from there. Very fun to play with. Also in the Tool modifiers when the Fiber brush is selected you have a lot of fun sliders there that affect the strokes....density of the hair strokes, which way they point with the gravity slider...etc...but your image is definitely coming along nicely.

    creatively,
