After the polystyrene was cut we put a layer of epoxy resin over it to seal it up then covered the pieces in polyester fibreglass. The pieces were then all split and the EPS cleaned out then they were faired, sanded and the mechanical components placed inside. This saved us the moulding process time.

The only component that was made using a mould was the head as we needed to keep all of the detail perfect. The face is more complicated than an arm or leg piece.

The mechanical pivot points were the most difficult to get right and required a lot of time. The components were drawn up in a CAD program which made the steel fabrication fairly straight forward.

reminds me a bit of the work of that street performance company Royal de luxe but with a High teck take on the process.

Here's the finished puppet on the streets of Brisbane.

Oh, we started off scanning a real doll then manipulated the image in zbrush as I am a real novice with zbrush. The hair was done using zbrush and really helped smooth and style the pigtails.

    Any questions just ask.
