Jim Lee's Superman

Long time no post. I haven’t really had much to show at the moment as I’ve been working on non-Zbrush related projects but now and again I get to use Zbrush… and my life is a happier place for it.

This model is for a internal project (not for a client) and I hope that we the team (http://www.candylab.co.uk/) will get the final render sorted out soon.

I’ve resisted going for the Alex Ross style and instead tried for a Jim Lee/DC style. The cape is still a place-holder.

As the final image hasn’t been finished, feel free to pass me your crits.

Thanks

MX

Very nice my friend, you going to paint him?

Well done!

Solid sculpting you have there. Really like the form. Well done :+1:

Would like to see the face please

yep looking great - would love to see it textured…:+1:

Thanks very much for your comments.

Here’s a view of his head. The hair and eyebrows is another place-holder model that is going to be replaced.

Intervain: I’d like to see it textured as well. Hopefully it’ll be textured by another chap. It’s just down to when he gets the time.
BretSinclair, and here it is just for you:)
Solitudinal: I’m not going to use Zbrush to paint him. But what I’ve seen so far it looks very nice.

solid model man …i liked the legs n face feel …it doesn’t mean i didn’t liked ur full model …greatt effort dude .
would love to see texture him .

It’s all good. Give him some paint!!

Hi again,

Thanks for your comments. It is very much appreciated.

Hope you people don’t mind me posting some none Superman related stuff here in the meantime as it may be some time until Supes is all textured, lit etc. Especially as I’m hoping to remodel the torso and arms over the Xmas holiday.

I’ve realised that it really doesn’t help to have an overly dense base-mesh base mesh to start with. You spend too much time getting the basic form. So I’d like to work up something simpler and hopefully the final model will look more graceful.

Broken skull was meant to be used in an image and was intended to be mostly covered in sand.

I just wish I had more time to practice with Zbrush. Looking around this forum makes me feel like I’m lagging behind.

The hair you sculpt on the last head model’s really cool looking not to mention the skull’s quite great as well.

Cheers Mr Snake.

The hair, like on the Superman model is a place-holder for the final image. Most of the time it’s photoshopped on in the last stage. Here’s a crop of the final image.

C and C welcome as always. Thankies.

Wow! That looks fantastic. Love what you did with the hair. Some depth of field will really help the piece I think.

Awesome stuff :+1:

Cheers
Brett

Absolutely Beautifull!!!
Can you put some other views of the lion please? is it flat?

love it your pieces!!!great skills!
keep updating!

see mine too! http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?p=509360

I love the superman! Only the one thing I feel is lacking most is the feel that he is wearing a suit, if you could like put some wrinkles over his abs and or blur marks to is looks like there is fabric going over some of those crevasis I think this thing would jump out at you!!! Otherwise amazing skills man!

Very nice work mxhaunted !

Thanks for your support in comment form.

Julian n: Sorry I haven’t got any more views of the lion. It’s meant to be a base-relief type design made out of gold.

Lordrych: I feel the same way about Superman’s torso and arms. In a newer version of the model I’ve added some wrinkles to the right side of his body but it wasn’t a big enough change to warrant posting up a new image.

Superman’s arm and torso also feels a bit too ridged, which I put down to the base mesh being waaay to dense. More detailed the base mesh and it almost feels like you’re swimming up stream. Where you should be able to tweak the shape and form of, say, the chest or shoulder it’s a lot faster and easier to push 4 or 5 verts around than it is to push about 25+.

I’ll have to dig about and see if I can find any other stuff I’ve used Zbrush to create while working here. Most of the time I just use Maya and hardly ever touch Zbrush. Shame really.
