    Question:
I'm hoping someone can tell me how to get the hair I have in ZBrush out to Keyshot without it doing those hideously smoothed tubes... I'll go into the fibremesh settings tonight, but given it's all now proper geo subtools
I was also wondering if anyone had a good mat or process / tutorial for doing Keyshot hair

Fan Art - CryptCrawler's 'Fell Shepherd' WIP

Trying to do this solely in ZBrush and Keyshot; zmodeller is great fun, and in conjunction with edit topology seems like there isn't much base mesh work you can't do in ZB now!
Just blocking in all the shapes and trying to get to grips with Keyshot as I go

Props go solely to the amazing CryptCrawler's art, and the whole WotC cannon of wonders... so many beautiful works it was hard to choose one to model, but I opted for this one as I hope my skills are nearing a point where I might be able to do it justice

    ZBrush + Mischief + Exposure
Wanted to try an idea (just as a quick paint over) to deviate toward some alter-ego/power-up/variant, and I liked this...also felt like maybe i hit my stride with the style...it's late though, so who knows

I love detailing...it's so therapeutic, I lost 2 hours doing the leather strap

textures are a bit harsh at the moment, but that's easily toned down/balanced once everything is marked in

    ZBrush / Exposure 7

Yet another WIP, getting the skin to be more like one big open sore...just a few more armour pieces, the staff and some decent skin creases to get the main detailing done on over the next couple of days...then a final pass of high frequency detail over the weekend.
Well, unless I decide to go catch Avengers:Ultron

Next week some enviro pieces and a base to make it properly tasty... ...maybe an animated turntable too, his wisps of hair waving in the breeze, lightning flashing...who knows

    Default More WIPage....

ZBrush and polypaint only... post for framing only

Decided I wanted to push the detail in a few areas to see where my finishing line would be. Will also add a layer of very high frequency detail I probably won't do this level of detail all round the back as it's just a fan piece/ exercise and he's going to be stood in front of some kind of Hell monolith with a cresting mass of beetles and centipedes swarming at his feet

learning loads...can't wait for the next one... sci-fi flesh and metal... lots of hard surface goodness.

    Then an environment piece....

Then I'll see if I can't get some new work in

Default The Seven Lords of Hell

Got all of his detailing done pretty much, but just wanted to do an in-scene readability test to see that all the detailing deosn't distract from the character as a whole...apologies for the very rough nano-mesh insect mound, but it's just to create some feel right now
Contemplating a cloak for him, works dynamically with the sweep of his 'hair', but again I don't want to distract too much
Also, trying out some fresh blood on his staff, see whather the narrative in that distracts or not

Will not look at it for a day or two and then decide how and what to present the final version...take advantage to recalibrate my sodding monitors!
Any thoughts or advice is very welcome!

    Default !

And this one because I bought Simplify last week, because it seems to go great with ZBrush renders, imho, and because there's no client, so I can
...but maybe I should retitle him Ultron: Lord of Hell though, I can't help but see him in there now, damn it, Whedon, damn it!

Default Seven Lords of Hell - clean render test

    Cryptcrawler FanArt

makes me realise how much work i put in to the textures, because I can clearly see where the detail sculpting is poor if not non existent :/
Didn't want to spend more than 3 weeks on it, as the final week is going to be for projecting maps back onto the low res cages, but having come this far, and in my endeavours to nail a workable pipeline,
I guess i will try to fix the little modelling niggles and push some more high frequency surfacing and look at this all as learning curve for the next piece

Default Seven Lords of Hell - Card Art

(FanArt based on Cryptsrawler's Fell Shepherd)

A younger Fell Shepherd, back in the day when his armour still had the power of the Hydra's teeth

probably no point doing any more detailing because I simply don't have the expertise to get the render I'd want out of Keyshot.
So...I did multiple passes in KS and stacked layers, erasing stuff i didn't like...then hand-painted a suggestion of SSS and the hightlights exactly as I needed to help pick the details out

Will still do the 40k poly model to try out in the new Marmoset web viewer...looks great...whether it'll cope with a 40k model is another matter though...if not then in Unity with a nice skydome and some lights

copyright: Wizards of the Coast, and CryptCrawler of course...he da man!

Been busy, but managed to get some work done on his armour tonight... i think it looks nice, but too tired to tell.
Got to say again... 4R7 is frikkin awesome, never felt so comfortable with ZB, and I'm atually finding my confidence working without the clutter of palettes

    Any and all feedback welcome

    Default Gene-Engineered Off-World Rec Para - WIP 3

ZBrush + paintover on the back

Between work, my daughter's half term hols, and zbrush - Keyshot issues, I haven't been able to touch this, so thought I'd blast some stuff at it and see how I feel about it in a couple of days
Quite like the exo-assisted fingers but not so sure about introducing the red and white stripes elsewhere

    Thoughts very welcome
