Default Character from Hellboy 2 (Not Hellboy)

I'm working on a model I found a concept sketch of in my "Hellboy 2 - The Art of the Movie"-book. Sorry for not posting the ref-image but I dont wanna brake any copyright laws since I couldnt find one already posted on the net.

    Quote from the book:
"Mike Mignola had designed a few monsters that got tossed from the first movie. I wanted a few "background" monsters in Hellboy II that were great looking but could only be glimpsed for a second or two. Having fallen in love with this goofy fella, I asked to bring the berserker back. You can actually find the original colored-pencil design in the book Hellboy: The Art of the Movie. I asked Francisco to do a more 3D-looking render and add the iron shoes." -GdT

Having the first artbook as well, I think he talked about one of the early sketches of Sammael. (For those of you who havent seen the movie, it's the main monster). If you want to get inspired, buy both of the Hellboy-art books. They're filled with freakishly awsome monster concepts. I think the second book might be the best one since Guillermo del Toro had more freaky ideas after making Pan's Labyrinth.

    Anywho, back to the model.
Hopefully you can see that it's a work in progress. There's still alot of detail needed to be added on the feet, back, "hotpants with chains", tail, face, hands and so on. So to sum it up, the best part is still to be done.

Oh, for those of you who think the hands look a bit too small. I'm just following the concept.

    Hope you like it!

The amount of detail is impressive. Is it already finished? You could probably add some more detail on the tentacles on his head (I mean those long parts) and "shoes" (?) It is very good, but I kinda feel that the contrast between highly detailed legs and those parts I've mentioned is too big. Keep it up!

    Cool!

Cool concept and a really good execution so far, but I'm still gonna say it...the hands look too small...I know I know you're just following the concept but sometimes you should break free from the concept to make your own enhancements...right now it's really taking away from your model!!

Good luck waiting for your next update

Thanks for the kind words. It always gives you a big boost.

BiZkiD: As I wrote in the end of the perhaps too long text or description it's still a wip. So I'm currently adding the missing detail on the, for example the parts you just mentioned. Hopefully I'll add updates bye the end of my swedish day. It's 13:19 (1:19pm) here so a few more hours to go.

Slice: Yeah, I know. Maybe I've been staring at the piece a bit too long. Like you said, maybe I need to break free. I'll probably finish the model according to the concept and change the size of the hands later on. It's a good confirmation that somethings wrong when you get crits about the same thing so thanks for that!

    Default great one

Great design, great fan sculpt. Actually you can find this design in concept form online on hellboymovie.com, so it`s ok to post it, here it is.

This is superb, the detail you have gone into is admirable. Did you use an alpha channel for the wrinkles?

Really nice sculpt! I like the horned bumps as they add a lot of character and the hands don't look too small. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Really nice job on this guy! Nice work on all the detailing. I thought HELLBOY 2 was a very entertaining movie, and that the creature designs were very imaginative. There was so much little details in the movie that few people really even noticed. I was a little surprised it wasn't bigger at the box office, but I think DARK KNIGHT dominated the summer box office so much, that it just got lost in the shuffle. Glad to see someone else liked the film, anyway. I also like the matcap you are using. Which matcap is it, may I ask?
