    Default Marcus Jackson - Artwork

Hello all, My name is Marcus Jackson and I aspire to be a Character Modeler in the Visual FX or Game development industry. There are so many inspiring artists here (my inspiration folders and bookmarks are full of ZBC art), I could only wish to be half as skilled as a lot of you someday. Still, I will try to keep this thread updated with my artistic endeavors. First off, I am posting a sculpt I completed for the CG Channel competition titled " Frank Frazetta Homage." My entry was inspired from a painting of Conan the Barbarian. Hope you like it. C&C always welcome.

Great job so far on the Frazetta piece..
Maybe have the womans thigh that is touching the ground have a little more narrowing to it as it merges into the knee, with a couple of oppossing curves to define and enhance the rythm of the muscle groups in that thigh region..just a small suggestion and observation that may be of use to you.
    Keep going, it's looking great..

Hey Marcus! This is Shotgun Scream from the forums. Glad you posted here. Welcome! When is Ryan going to post the results? I swear I dont have any fingernails left lol. This months challenge has got to be extremely difficult to judge.

Wow! Nice work, great musculature details! Lots of detail on the male character's front, but his back seems a little lacking? Maybe that's on purpose if we're not going to be seeing it.

The woman's hand seems awkward, is she actually going to be grabbing/holding something? Also her exposed left breast seems a little bit off, maybe it could be a tiny bit fuller, or you could adjust the flow where it meets the body, on the underside. I'm only nitpicking because you've got such a great start!

    Again, really nice work!

Thank you all for your kind replies.

nerveink: Thank you, I plan to finish it with textures and the whole mental ray treatment

SpiritDreamer: Thank you, I will fix the problematic area you noticed. Thanks for the critique.

    Dman3d: Thank you

    MayaDamien: Thank you

    Neosaga: Thank you

DAnconia: Hey Shotgun, thanks for the warm welcome,it really means a lot to me.
I am also on pins and needles about the contest. I'm sure you did well.
I noticed you started another competition and it's coming along nicely.

JimCrafton: Thank you, I noticed in that particular pose, a lot of the frontal muscles are compressed and flexing, while the back muscles are more relaxed. That is why the front is more prominent. Everything else that you mentioned is what makes me cringe when I see it up here. lol Thank you for your critique, I will fix the issues.

Don't cringe - you've done some really great work here. Anatomy is hard to do well and you've got some great stuff here, the legs, pecs, arms, face, all look great. Base female pose is great as well. No reason at all to cringe.

Okay guys, sorry for the late reply, but I've been real busy going to networking events (still trying to get a job out here). I've just entered another competition over at CGTantra. The topic is "Music Icons". Immediately after seeing the topic, I realized now would be a good time for me to create a piece in honor of Michael Jackson, even though I know a lot of other artists will do the same. Anyways, here is a few hours of sculpting the face (The hardest part of creating a likeness piece). Also, I did a couple quick paintovers to get a better feel for the character. Still a lot of work to do. Let me know what you think. C&C very welcome.

Here is a quick (and very dirty) texture projection I did to make sure I was on the right track. Form and proportions seem to hold up.
