Crazy Construction Vehicle WIP

Most of the construction equipment in Louisiana doesn't make any sense. Here's what I have so far of one of them. Its sole purpose is to pick up logs and move them.

Anyways, I brought it into zbrush to smooth it because it kept crashing in Maya. :/

I still have a bunch to do but any feedback thus far would be great.

Those details are unbelievable! Even though most of it was done in Maya I'm looking forward to see the additional work from ZBrush.

Thanks! I had pretty much what you see in a week and a half. then put it down for about a month. I picked it up again last night and did the tubes and stuff.

Nice work, the fault that jumped out at me is that the step isn't connected to the truck with a bracket or anything.

Oh lol. Yeah There are some floating pieces right now heh. I'll make sure and remember that one, in particular, when i start attaching the loose ends. Thanks.

The "mechanical faults" I mentioned earlier are not reference to unfinished geometry, it is a wip and most of the bits that look floating will obviously be resolved. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the the log grab, the bit that does all the work, has wacky geometry. The way it is modeled, it will have the most power (from the hyd. cylinders) when it is fully open, not partially closed when it needs it. Maybe they build 'em different in Louisiana. I guess the left hand threads on the bolts are because the image is flipped. I would like to see some reference pictures of the boom and grab.
These are only observations and in no way knocking a great model. A quick jpeg to show the grab question...... it's easier than drafting it and doing a simulation in CAD. The cylinders hit the pivots. I'll delete this image soon so you don't have rubbish in your thread.

I was born in ..................Kentucky. I've seen some dandy trucks.
You just have to tweek the positions of components to match the real one so it will close. Now about those hydraulic lines..............
