    Default SCULPTRIS CHALLENGE No.2

It's time to stretch your Sculptris muscles and try something imaginative and different.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is this:

    THE ABSTRACT SCULPT CHALLENGE

Submit a piece of work (or more than one) that is nonfigurative, ie doesn't represent a person or object etc. You can give it an imaginative title.

You may use all the tools at Sculptris' disposal: painting is allowed.
You may change background colour, BUT background images are not allowed.

    Duration Of Challenge: 1 WEEK

Entries must be posted on this thread.
It must be purely the work of Sculptris and rendered in Sculptris.

    Have Fun and Good Luck!

That was quick. I'll have to see what I can do here. I was always one of those that never could get into a large portion of abstract pieces.

Ok, I'll actually spend some time on the next one...

Thanks for the reminder, Blueferret. I've just added it to the rules: You may change background colour, but background images aren't allowed!

Well, I'd refine it to simple gradient, meaning the background can not fulfill any elemental function other than ...well... background. It would be not helpful to the challenge to reduce the potential of the produced art to suffer for no reason.

Gradients or default background should be fine and not distract from the object itself!

    Uh, that's kinda pretty, too...

    Default Extraterrestic joyzone

Absolutely stunning, taron and close to what I did yesterday
Is it rendered with baked AO?
Looking so real - background and colours so perfectly fitting!

Got lot of more renderings. New angle - new picture. Really fun!

    Ah, very pretty!!!

Nah, I kept it all within sculptris, no AO baking. I felt that might be considered "cheating", even if Blender is a free app and it's really a blast with AO. Anyway...trying to keep it simple.

I've got one more...(I think that's better then the attached, but still)

Mermaid, that's very pretty. I think the background is a bit too strong and too busy, even just as gradients they take away from the subject. Also think about the brightness or rather contrast and how the eye has to adjust to look around the sculpture. I find that if a single object is meant to be featured, you'd want to compliment it with visual ease around it, even considering the variation in luminance, so to say. The materials are very, very pretty as they are!

Here's a different kind of experiment. That abstract stuff is a curious exercise and plenty of fun...

    Video's coming up for you!

...I simply made and recorded this for you, thinking: Why not!?

The video will be ready in a moment, but here's the link already:

It's really fun with those abstracts, but it's most challenging to find the best angle and presentation. So many things are kinda working...

    Default Oh My Goodness!

This is my first and final comment on the entrant's work, but I have to say this: I'm blown away by the entries so far! Every one of them is beautiful.

    Sporky, a simple, sensual dance.
    Blueferret, electric symmetry.
Taron, your work is exceptional, as everyone expects.
Knacki, beautiful, intricate - and wonderful title!
Mermaidine! Outstanding! A Rene Lalique dream.
    Piz, I absolutely LOVE it!
