    Default Double-A's sketchbook

    Hey all,

I figure for as much as I'm checking out everyone's cool 3d work here, I should probably start a sketchbook as well.
I'll start off with my latest two personal projects. These started as speed sculpting tests, trying to sculpt the basic forms to high res detail and polypaint within a few hours. I decimated the meshes and rendered them in Lightwave, composited and did some post work in Photoshop and After Effects.
Mainly for fun and to see what I could do.
    C&C welcome!

Great sculpts. Not every day you see those with textures I'd like some more meat under the lower lip to represent the muscles going on each side of the cheek, but faces are so different that I can't really say it's wrong either

    Thanks for the comments!
I didnt realize how difficult it would be sculpting the forms without the rest of the face there to quide the shapes. Next time I'll try and pay a bit more attention to the underlying anatomy.
I recorded my lips session and made a quick speed sculpt video out of it for fun and future reference.

I try to block in as much detail as I can, refining more detail each subD level. Hopefully more to come soon!

thank you~~, I was wondering how people did it. I tried alphas but it didn't look right.. thought I was applying alphas incorrectly.

Heres another mini project I finished. I mainly sculpted this space toad dude to try out the BPR renderer and compositing in photoshop. Fun project and I learned a quite a bit.

I know alien heads are a bit cliche but after seeing Paul in theaters, I had to
First image rendered in ZB, composited in PS. Second image was rendered in Lightwave with SSS. Constructive c&c welcome.

    Love the Lightwave render.
What SSS node did you build from?

Thank you. I used the simple skin material with a few maps from zbrush. It was also a decimated mesh so the SSS had a little better effect.
