Zeedoodledoo

Hello,
here are some of the doodles and tests i did learning ZB 3.x.
All were made from polyspheres and since they´re just doodles
i didn´t care about asymmetry or if polys are visible.
The first one is an alpha modeling and polypainting test mainly.
Second one is a pinch-style attempt and compositing test.
The last two showing both sides of a polysphere that has been
treated with the displacement brush using radial z-symmetry.
The lower one is one stroke.
You can have lots of fun with that one.

Have a good one,J.psdoo4 b.jpgcompo.jpgdispbr 2a+b.jpg

Good work,cool start.:+1:
cal

Thanks cal.

More fun with the displ brush:
the protuberances were made with the displ brush using the
brush modifier with different values.

radial z symmetry again

Two more compositing tests

I like the second face very much!!
good work:+1:

Thanks  !

A displaced plane,two versions.

These last two would make killer t-shirts. :+1:

Thanks for your comment Giantsun.

Another one

The following might be well known for cg-veterans,but i thought
i should mention.
Amongst other things i used a combination of HiPass-filter and
gaussian blur on the above to -hopefully- enhance a somewhat
dark render. The basic steps are:take your dark render and open it
in your favourite layer based image editing software, then copy
it 2 times so that you have 3 layers,then apply a HiPass-filter
to the first copy and set the layer to hard light (or soft light
or some other light ,depends on the desired result, just play with
the modes and the HiPass values),now perform a gaussian blur on
the 2nd copy (remember to play with the values) and set that layer
to screen.An example

Hope it will be useful as an addition to the renderpasses methods
discussed elsewhere on this forum.

Nice Z-time y´all,J.compo 4.jpgexample.jpg

One more test piece.

Thanks for the render tips, most useful for me!I like this last guy too,why did I imagine that droplet swinging around after I flicked it?lol!I dunno…Great stuff again, cal

 .You´re welcome and thanks to you, glad to hear from
you again.

Very cool works… and also thanks for the post processing tip…

:+1:

P.S.
(mmm… excuse me a lot, In PShop Hipass means something like Overlay on the upper layers…?)

piz:thanks and HiPass is a filter found under Filters->other
filters(translated from german,so maybe it´s named slightly
different in your version).Hope you´ll find it.

Ops… I mistook… Now I have found it… Tnx a lot!

A rake-doodle

Cheers,J.raked.jpg

Was this last one all done with the rake brush? How? I’m having a bit of trouble understanding uses for the rake brush and could really use some help.
Thanks.

Nope it was not entirely done with the rake brush, but most of it.
First i´ve tweaked the polysphere with the move brush on a low
subd level to get a headlike shape and then pulled out the nose.
After that the standard brush was used to rough out the nostrils,
mouth area and cheekbones and then i decided spontaneously to use
the rake brush on this one together with the clay brush to get some
more volume where needed and with smaller sizes for corrections.
Started the raking with the default values except for the brush
size and did a first pass.Decreased the intensity and the brush
size for a second pass.Subdivided once more decreased the afore-
mentioned values again for the next pass.If i remember right i
did four rake passes correcting sometimes with the clay brush
and the rake with the appropriate settings.
Btw i did this to get some understanding of the uses for the rake
myself.
Maybe you should take a look at the recent ryan kingslien-threads
or his rake brush video,if you haven´t already, very inspiring.
Hope that i could help a little,J.
