Go In Depth with...ZRemesher 3.0 - DetectEdges
Let's familiarize ourselves a little better with ZRemesher's DetectEdges functionality. In this Lesson example, we'll take a gear model that has a triangulated mesh with no PolyGroups or no mesh ID, but has edges to help utilize the DetectEdges function. Once DetectEdges is activated, we can convert our mesh to quad based geometry, create PolyGroups, and most importantly retain our clean or hard edges. This function can assist with future mesh editing including Dividing and sculpting or features that utilize PolyGroups.

Argos catalogue
Thought I'd post this as it's a bit different to the normal Zbrush use. End of last year we were commissioned to produce images for the front cover of the Argos catalogue. The images will also be used across web, tv & direct marketing. Argos is a leading UK retailer for goods ordered via catalogue/web/mobile in the UK. The brief required vacuum formed images of the companies new product ranges that they are now offering. What sounds like a simple task for 3D software to achieve actually turned out to be quite tricky, especially in the time required. We looked at 'draping' digital cloth over the products among other solutions. What saved the day and gave us control and speed over the job was Zbrush and in particular Dynamesh combined with standard modelling brushes. Layout & colouring of the products were provided by another company. The products were built in a separate package and Goz'ed in and Dynameshed to a cube so they could be combined into one mesh and sculpted to the correct form. WIP below. Detailing was also then added in ZB. We also created 24 exploding versions of products for the separate sections of the catalogue, a selection below.

Tug 24
This is a "low poly" done in ZB and rendered in Max and Marmoset. The Tug 24 pushes and pulls larger space-ships while they are in dock - hence the large rubber softener at the front. Loving Zbrush at the moment.

Armor is good design, you are going in the right direction! Just make sure Armor looks good when bending limbs if you are going to animate or pose.

Fibers to 3ds Max Test
Well now this is getting interesting - just a quick test to check work flow. This is not a render comparison as my rendering in Zbrush is not what it could be, more a comparison of how well the Fibers form transfers to Max and I'm pretty happy with the results - more to come. Script for 3ds Max here : - http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=59&t=1032326 (Check all of the thread for the bottom revised script.)
