Asuras Wrath
Hi guys , has been a long time no post any work here. here's my latest work, Asuras Wrath Asura is a powerfull demi-god described in Buddha texts,he’s one of Buddha protectors, and he’s hot-tempered and have some other bad personalities, but also he’s a good-hearted warrior with strong moral code. This work I did shows a moment before a war between Asura and Sakra ,the ruller of the heaven, Asura’s wife is killed and his daughter is kidnapped, and Asura is going to revenge. This scenes is the moment he find his wife’s body. In the Buddha’s texts , Asura has thousands of arms and thousands of eyes , that’s very crazy, so usually the statues of Asura is created with 3 faces 3arms ,or 3 eyes and 3 arms. Asura is also very huge, even bigger than Sumeru Mountain. I’m a big fan of Buddha culture , wanted to do some work about Buddha stories years ago, and here’s one I did. Zbrush for sculpt, Vray for render, texture created in Mair and Substance Painter, Photoshop for Post work. Also if you are wondering what's his wife look like , here are other renders of his wife.

Thanks. Here are some images about some more info and breakdown: Bpr of Zbrush high res model: I created a dynamesh model first then retopo it use Zsphere and finilize the model in Maya, and for the posed model I used TransPose Master. About the hair and fur, I used polyon to model the hair planes first ,then converted them to subd then to nurbs finally converted to hair curves,and applied some hair systems for different hair layers. the fur stuff like eyebrow,facial hair, beard, I used fiber mesh, I groomed them in Zbrush first, then I exported them to maya as curves, and applied the hair system to the curves. Really a lot of time saved by Fiber mesh. and for the hair render I used vray hair shader. About the textures, color maps are done in photoshop. specular/bump maps was converted or just from displacement map generated from Zbrush. For exemple: For Shaders , I used Vray mtl and Fast SSS for all models.For exemple the head shader is combined a sss shader and 2 vray mtl shader(for reflection,specular)

Most parts of models done in ZBrush, and rendered in Maya using Vray. These models were used for ingame ready high poly model, and I rendered them for fun. Black Cat and Green Goblin were used for Gameloft's released game "Amazing Spider Man 2". Some More images for the works: Body sculpt of the girl, her hair was created by fiber mesh, and I exported fiber mesh with curves to maya rendered it as hair system.

Making Of
I grab some wip images when I was sculpting, I used these images for this Making Of, maybe I need apologize for my English first, I hope you can get what I mean with my bad English The first thing I was doing was searching references, I googled a lot of De Niro's pics and evaluate which one will be the best for DeNiro's look, first time I saw the black/white one I knew it was the one I was gonna do, I think it has a very fascinating express and can capture people's eyes quickly. Also I needed more reference especially at this age, it's not possible to find nice enough pictures on internet, so I decided to find a movie of him , Righteous Kill, and grab some very nice pictures of him ,especially the side view of him, and it's very close to his age in the black/white picture. For My experience, you should select 1 or 2 or 3 pictures for the main reference, and other pics just for finding forms and shape connections. 'cause pictures from internet always have very different focal length, and may lead you to the wrong place. In this case , I use those 3 for my main references. Next I was going to start to work on it. After the head was good, I started to wok on the hair. I used maya hair system for hair. The method I modeled hair was base on layers, first I did a general shape of hair with some polygon planes. and then I started to split those meshes to more detailed hair planes. I analyzed the photo and found that at least he has 3 different kind of hair, 1 is black, 1 is grey ,and 1 is white, so there's at least 3 layers. After this I added some messy hair, and some little hair at hairline area. You can see the main layers of hair I did: By the way, the hair shader for black and grey were Vray hair shader3, but the white one is default hair shader. I found it's hard to get "white enough" look by Vray Hair shader3. Next is texture. I didn't spend much time on texture, 'cause it left little time there. The shader for skin is Vray Fast SSS2 shader. The last thing was lighting . It was simple setting, see blew: That's it Hope you like the work. PS, here's a Gif of my sculpting process. Sketch book for anatomy study
Now I'm going to start a new sketch book to record my zbrushing stuff . Here's one for today, I did a torso study, was trying to make it as realistic as possible. also I grab some wip pictures, hope this may help someone. And any Comment is most welcome. Age Of Suffering
Long time ago I wanted to study Rodin's famous work Age Of Bronze***65292;recently I just got time to really make it come ture, but I found it was boring to make it just like the origianal sculpture, then I changed it to this look, and name it Age of Suffering. Sculpted in Zbursh, textured in Photoshop, and Rendered in maya mentalray.

Eric Jackson(Low poly model)
Hi everyone , I'm back again, here's my new character work, an in-game model I did for myself.This guy (Eric Jackson) his family was broken by bad guys ,and he wanted to revenge, I wanted to make him looks brave and has no fear to move forward, and ready for fighting with enemies anytime. OK, game started. Low poly model rendered in Maya mental ray, and High poly model rendered in Zbrush. I used Zbrush to sculpt and make poses, and retopo the low-poly model in Maya, textures done in Photoshop, most are hand painted. Hope you like it, thanks

Hi all, thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it.here are some more share with you. For all my works, I think 90% part of work was done in Zbrush,some even 100%, so many awesome tools there make me very comfortable when doing sculpting. Basically I used a base model exported to Zbrush, and used transpose tool to pose my character, and directly sculpted on this pose. then there was fun time came to me. I tried to develop my skills as far as possible in digital sculpting, my aim was to follow these great traditional artist's works ,like Rodin, I want my model looks as natural as possible, so the sculpting process was a really important and a huge work for me. Fortunately there are so many great brushes provided by Zbrush make the dream could possibly be true. some brushes I used pretty often were: standard brush, clayes, polishes(really cool), damstandard, and more. During sculpting I also use polypaint to texture my model, to see if it worked when textures was on. After finally I felt good with my model ,I uv it , and exported several maps generated by Zbrush, and used them to do more texture works in Photoshop. here are ZB shots of my models some with textures. I found that there always lost details when add lighting,for me it's easier to see model errors in ZBrush shots.

Hi all ,nice see you guys. I just want to start this sketch book to share with you guys what I'm doing, and I will continue to put my works in this sketch. Here are some new works I did during last two years, mostly human anatomy studies and heads. hope you like it. #1. Art Model In Lao Wu's Studio. Lao Wu(WU Wei) is character art director at Virtuos Games, he's an amazing artist and have massive passion on art, he has a lovely studio where I put my model in. These amazingly beautiful sketches on the wall are all his works. He has huge plenty knowndge of human anatomy and I really learnt a lot from his arts. I did this model during last two years, of cause not full time , I also have lots other works to do . recently I found myself feel satisfied with this model and turned to make this render. Also here's the turntable I made for this model: 44452680 Zbrush , photoshop , maya and vray #2. Nude female Anatomy study. #3. Hopeless (a sketch just did for fun) Zb shot #4. CGicore: these are main textures, I did use displacement map as mentioned before. seems some guy were intesting in my hands,so here is the hand model grab for you, I modeled the hand base on my father's hand, he's a farmer doing farm work all his life, after years and years labor he got these such good looking hands. Thanks again for your comments. Here I make some pics to tell what I did for rendering, Main textures were color map, sub_scatter map,and specular map,and a 32 bit displacement map generated by zbrush. I set 4 lights are Key light which was physical light of mental ray,a special light for the face,and a very slight fill light to illumilate the shadow area. and 2 rim lights. As I said before, these setups just for the purpose to acchive a Remberant's oil paint feeling, I want to follow this master's style in both artistic and realistic way. I dont mean i didnt want get a photorealistic result ,but it just not the main aim in this case. hope these shots can be helpful for you. Scenes.jpg textures.jpg
