Go In Depth with...ZRemesher 3.0 - DetectEdges
Let's familiarize ourselves a little better with ZRemesher's DetectEdges functionality. In this Lesson example, we'll take a gear model that has a triangulated mesh with no PolyGroups or no mesh ID, but has edges to help utilize the DetectEdges function. Once DetectEdges is activated, we can convert our mesh to quad based geometry, create PolyGroups, and most importantly retain our clean or hard edges. This function can assist with future mesh editing including Dividing and sculpting or features that utilize PolyGroups.

In this Lesson, let's discover how to lock our camera in place across multiple applications using ZBrush's Universal Camera, create multiple render passes, and create a final composite inside of Photoshop.

Thank you A new post just to keep in touch Though not much zbrush, except some fast dynamesh sketching > z remesher + a few loops. The rest in blender. A BPR like render.

An attempt for low poly exporting Here rendered at ~80k, though it looks decent at ~20k already. Pre baked displ, normal and AO maps. In this case, unwrapped via blender UV editor. (I can't handle well normal maps under ZB UVs)

Thank you patpotlood, Thanks Daniele This "reverse" engineering is based on low poly base meshes, so it's easy to export it. ~50 k mesh, imported and subdivided on the cycles (blender) renderer. ~12 millions faces (it took 2 mins for a 2000 px render) Fast dynamesh sculpting (booleans etc), z remeher. Now I have nice loops, I can select them, separate them, extrude and UV them. Subdivide and preview displacement (not apply it) Ready for exporting. Additional edits in blender UV editor, multires and apply subdivisions, some more blender sculpting. Here a 1/2 hour doodling, an artifact, same workflow.

Thank you Lexxx, pfc, patpotlood and… welcome back mealea Working in zbrush or blender doesn't make much difference to me. SImilar principles. Anyway another one, this completely in zbrush (except the maps, these have been baked in blender. I can't find a way to bake a decent AO map in zbrush. Any ideas?)

Still waiting for my computer to get fixed. Still on a core2duo 2 GB seven years old laptop. Another BPR, (dynamesh > z remesher > multires Zsculpting) just to keep in touch. three lights passes composited in Pshop. There should be a decent lightmapping - compositing in zbrush.

@Mealea thanks, (spanish writing, I consider it as positive) Morph target, no, never used it this way. I'll try it. The above tutorial (if we can call it this way) is an addition to your wonderful tuts. The basic point is, how to avoid non distractive applies on a mesh that is for exporting. I will insist on separated overlapping meshes techniques. It is much simpler and easier to UV unwrap them, to handle them. On my recent tutorial I was using selected loops for the job. Now, a more spontaneous way. Just subdivide the mesh, use the masking brush to paint on it, extrude it. Use the z remesher on this, to have a clean topology mesh and UV (GUV?) unwrap it. Ask for UV based grouping to handle them (advanced UV unwrapping) Similar results, but it doesn't follow the base topology. With the exception that it still overlaps the basic mesh. Just saying. A 5 mins test. There may be some interest on the shader, I also added the AO map as diffuse.

Maybe the AO, but the detail is really standing out... one of your best disp experiments, gorgeous!
