Let's familiarize ourselves a little better with ZRemesher's DetectEdges functionality. In this Lesson example, we'll take a gear model that has a triangulated mesh with no PolyGroups or no mesh ID, but has edges to help utilize the DetectEdges function. Once DetectEdges is activated, we can convert our mesh to quad based geometry, create PolyGroups, and most importantly retain our clean or hard edges. This function can assist with future mesh editing including Dividing and sculpting or features that utilize PolyGroups.

Alright, here's a couple more sculpts I worked on as well. And I also have a pistol I modeled. It's an old school 1940s High Standard .22. Much of it was modeled outside zbrush, but projection master helped out a ton for the fine detailing.

Brendan Boyd Art Dump
Hi everyone, I haven't posted anything in a while and I've got a bunch of stuff I've been working on over the last 6 months. I'm also posting my recently finished demo reel from Vancouver Film School. Zbrush was used extensively on all these projects. For organics and cloth, I prefer to use whatever I have lying around, sculpt it to a moderate level of detail, and then retopologize before finishing the sculpt. All hard surface objects were modeled outside zbrush, but I find zbrush really helpful for detailing objects using stamps, projection master, and morph targets. I didn't have ZB4 R2 at the time for all the new epic hard surface options. Thanks for checking my work out. The following is the title character of the series Lady Mechanika. Much thanks to Joe Benitez the comic book's creator for permission to use his design. It's an awesome series, so anyone interested in comics should definitely give it a look.

lotus_post_pic.jpg EZRA52 and wenna: Thanks a lot! I've really been trying to make things looked finished as much of my past work has been pretty rough. I just got a turntable of her up online: 17869980 1_Clay_01.jpg

Lotus
lotus_post_pic.jpg Just finished this piece for school. I did a group assignment with a couple of my classmates and this was my addition. The character is Lotus from Todd Mcfarland's Spawn. We did a battle royale between our three characters. I'll link the group turntable up as soon as my buddy gets it online. Clay (1).jpg Clay (3).jpg Clay (2).jpg

Ok, got a project comming up. Gotta Create a super hero in 3d. I wish I'd had this assignment a couple months ago. I would have liked to have joined in the comicon challenge. Sux. Anyway I chose Lotus. She's an angel concept from the Spawn comic. Just laid the body in real quick today. Not sure how I'm gonna do the armor. I've never really done such a detailed costume. To be honest, I think she's out of my league to pull off well, but thats why I'm giving it a go. lotus_thumb.jpg lotus.jpg series19_lotus_photo_03_dp.jpg

thumb.jpg Totally forgot to post this one. My other assignment was to pick a character from one of the 90s batman related series and interpret it in 3d. I chose this girl from the joker gang in Batman Beyond. render.jpg 01DTMODEL1[1].jpg http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=15608099&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=1&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&loop=0" />http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=15608099&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=1&color=00ADEF&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&loop=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"> from [url="http://vimeo.com/user4897973">Brendan_B on [url="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo.

rihanna_thumb.jpg Just finished my Rihanna sculpt. I didn't know how off things were until I went back in to do some retouching. I know there is still a lot out of place, but It's almost impossible to find orthographic front and side images of celebrities on the internet, so the ref was pretty junk. Of all the likenesses I've tried to do so far, this one is probably the most successful, so I'm pretty happy with it (for now hehe). BTW, Hair is really difficult. I feel like I'm gonna have to try and practice just hair styles for awhile side post.jpg front post.jpg 3q post.jpg

Head_Post_Thumb.jpg Ok, just had first day of modeling class and we get extra credit for speed sculpts and studies unrelated to class. Here's my first. Just some old man I sculpted from a polysphere. About 2.5 hrs. Super basic composite in photoshop. Head_Post.jpg

thumb.jpg Since I've decided I need to really drill in the anatomy knowledge, I've chosen to sculpt an ecorche. I downloaded an 8 head base skeleton from: http://www.sharecg.com/v/22098/3D-Model/New-Anatomical-Skeleton-%28OBJ%29 And since then, I've been adding all the muscles as subtools using zspheres. This is the finished (more or less) torso so far. I'm using Valerie Winslow's "Classic Human Anatomy" for anatomy study. Amazing book on anatomy which I don't think many know about. I highly recommend and I've learned a bunch so far. I'm really trying to nail this stuff and make it convincing, so any helpful suggestions would be great. Front.jpg Side.jpg Back.jpg

I like all of your characters - especially the first one and the last one! In my own personal humble opinion a little more study needs to be put into facial proportions and characteristics (of course I am not really one to give that critique as I can...

Humanoid_Thumg.jpg This new head started out as a speed sculpt, but I realized I have serious difficulties walking away from something unless its finished or I'm completely burnt on it. Anyway, Polypainting and Composite are in progress, but here's some pics of the finished sculpt. Humanoid_Front.jpg Humanoid_Side.jpg

Been workin on some super sculpey stuff lately, but am back to zbrush now. Thinking of doing a series of character fanart from my favorite comc, Blade of the Immortal by Hiroaki Samura. My first character I'm working on is Araya Kawakami. Here's some WIP's so far as well as a quick and dirty comp I've done. Running out of juice for this guy so I better finish him soon. GIBBON's Sketchbook
Hi, I'm new to 3d and so this is my first post. I'm a little nervous posting my work considering the level of awesome on this site, but I'll be attending VFS next fall and need all the improvement I can get before then. These are the first three pieces I've done in 3d that aren't tutorial work. The alien head started out as the generic head from Scott Spencer's "Zbrush Character Creation". Everything else is my own from start to unfinished. C&C's most welcome. This forum is awesome so I'm looking foreward to being a part of it.
