In this Lesson example, we'll take a gear model that has a triangulated mesh with no PolyGroups or no mesh ID, but has edges to help utilize the DetectEdges function. Once DetectEdges is activated, we can convert our mesh to quad based geometry, create PolyGroups, and most importantly retain our clean or hard edges. Thanks so much for all the help ED, very much appreciated! I've worked on inserting an E-pole as to get a nice edge-loop over the front of the hips and continuing back around the butt as seen below. I've tested out the new mesh with the E-pole near the pelvis and it doesn't create any pinching fortunately. Hip_Front.jpg Need a crit for the lower back though, would it be 'better' for me to close the loop just above the butt (highlighted in red) Hip_Back.jpg Worked on the toes and lips too. Managed to get the toes closer together, unfortunately thats as much time as i could put in as i'm nearing a deadline. feets2.jpg I don't know if this is what you meant by the important V-shaped loop over the inside of the back, but this is what its currently looking like.     you should just sculpt and then retopologize later if you find out you need to. you probobly wont though. i hate it when topology gets in the way of the artistic process. thats why they made zspheres and retopology. use them. they rock.

    why are you worrying about the edge loops when your model's body isn't ready yet? edge loops maybe important if you are doing box modeling, but it is probably one of the last thing you should worry when you work in zbrush. your model needs alot...

New Topology (Again)

Topology
Okiday, some updates on the new topology. After some reflection on the original sculpt, I will be making some big changes, namely: -adding actual toes (not stuck to the base of the sandals) -smoothing out wrinkles around elbows -rounding off the tibia (shin bone) -widening the fingers, adding more shape to the wrist/bottom of palm torso_front.jpg torso_back.jpg hand_front.jpg hand_back.jpg head_front.jpg head_back.jpg

ARC 77 Rambo Trooper WIP - Reginald Emvula
Hey dudes! Busy upgrading with this new piece - ARC 77 Rambo Trooper Based on the ARC Trooper designs from Genndy 'Samurai Jack' Tartakovsky's original Clone Wars series. The story behind (my renditioning) of the character follows squad leader 'ARC 77/Fordo' - after his squad has been ambushed, and later him being captured and enslaved as a gladiator. I imagine he'd use some of his old (damaged) armour in the arena aside from things he'd recieve from a local armoury - and in keeping to his previous colourised markings, I believe the character would have his stripes slashed or painted on haphazardly, just before entering a battle (such as the blue painting scene in apocalyptico before their sacrificial deaths) banner.jpg 2 - Arc 77 Rambo_smaller.jpg ARC 77 Rambo Trooper front_smaller.jpg These last 2 images are based on ARC 77 from clone wars - character reference side_smaller.jpg I'm hoping to go through the whole process step by step over this next month - full body - under armour - armour - pose any advice on direction would be more than welcome thanks in advanced!

CHAINED - Character Art WIP - Reginald Emvula
Hey all you beautiful people. 'CHAINED' is the piece, conan is the character. based on an epic piece of fantasy art by the great Frank Frazetta, its a unique perspective on conan vs the basilisk Hope you like, feel free to brutally crit (please) as I have yet to get a professional opinion.
