Go In Depth with...ZRemesher 3.0 - DetectEdges
Let's familiarize ourselves a little better with ZRemesher's DetectEdges functionality. In this Lesson example, we'll take a gear model that has a triangulated mesh with no PolyGroups or no mesh ID, but has edges to help utilize the DetectEdges function. Once DetectEdges is activated, we can convert our mesh to quad based geometry, create PolyGroups, and most importantly retain our clean or hard edges. This function can assist with future mesh editing including Dividing and sculpting or features that utilize PolyGroups.

But note it's not Faraut's model, it's my version of it. You can buy an original cast frot his online shop. I have only my 3D iterpretation of it.

The President of Blender

I know, it may be not ethical to post a sculpt of the Blender founder made in Blender , in ZBrush forum. But there are so many interferences between ZB and Blender ! I wish I knew who was a founder of ZBrush. I could make a bad sculpt of him as well!

Nice, are you going to take it further, sculpting wise?
  • Paul Marx

Do you think it requires more sculpting? You’re probably right, but the model is for 3D printing so smaller details will be eventually lost anyway.

Art Deco Portrait
I tried to do something in Art Deco style, but it looks like neo-classical. I’ve failed, sorry.

This was done in Blender as you can see from this Matcap, and I used simple Draw, Crease and Smooth brushes.

An Experiment
I’ve tried to reveal the information contained in the scan taken with a Structure Sensor. It is just an experiment. You can see an initial scan in white. This is a real person, of course. And a few may know who he is, if they use Blender

Art Nouveau Girl
I like the monsters at this forum (I mean both artists and their creatures), but aren’t there enough? This one is just for a change. I don’t like sweeties myself, but I’ve made this one as sweet as possible. No render, just a Blender Matcap. A simple matcap can reveal much more imperfections in sculpting than a good render can hide, and this what I want to get your critics.

I like how elegant she looks, like royalty, but she is also has handmaid garb. Hrm. Is this based on a painting or sculpture prior or and original concept?
  • Paul Marx
    04-08-15
Good question! It’s a combination of ideas and photos I take while travelling: The pose and a garb are from a sculpture from Le Petit Palais, Paris, the face is from a house décor from Moscow, the hair cut is from Alphonse Mucha’s work from Prague....

You are so so so smart, guys! Thank you for clicking the thread. I must confess it was done in Blender as I don't have ZBrush yet. This is why Paul looks a bit like Ringo and even John.

Classical Bust
I made few reference photos in Louvre and tried to sculpt. This is my first entry in this great forum, so please be forgiving.

Great sculpt, good form and clothing folds could definitely see that in the Louvre.
